Over 1,500 violent civilian deaths in occupied Baghdad
The first definitive total of violent civilian deaths in Baghdad since mid April has been published by Iraq Body Count (IBC), an Anglo-American research group tracking media-reported civilian deaths occuring as a consequence of the US/UK military intervention in Iraq

1. Interesting website.
Especially in the light of all the whinning from the White House today that the press isn't reporting any of the good news going on in Iraq, like people shopping in the bazaars. Duh, don't people have to shop anyway, no matter how bad things get, to survive?

3. The murder rate in Baghdad has skyrocketed.
And rapes, kidnappings, carjackings, etc. This is just the price you have to pay for freedom. Get used to it.

4. What are Iraqi lives worth to Americans?

Until the philosophy which hold one race
Superior and another inferior
Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
Everywhere is war, me say war

That until there are no longer first class
And second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes
Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally
Guaranteed to all, without regard to race
Dis a war

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion
To be pursued, but never attained
Now everywhere is war, war

-- Bob Marley
