This story has been poo-pooed by a lot of people, including defense experts at Jane's who've said it's impossible to put a nuke on a Harpoon. The warhead on a Harpoon only weighs 480 lbs, which would be a pretty advanced nuke. The USN never put a nuculear warhead on a Harpoon, and any weapon that was nuculear capable during the Cold War was nuke-equipped in some version. The headline is misleading anyway: the Times story said that Israel had modified US supplied missiles to mount warheads, not that the "US Says it supplied nuclear missiles for Israeli subs".
