The Whole Story Comes Out |
|
Having repeatedly swindled the reservists, the military is barely able to contain these guys from yelling out their anger and frustration. But the whole story will come out eventually. When the troops come home - either as individuals or in groups - they're going to reveal a side of the war that we haven't been told about.
We already know about the cultural insensitivity reflected in male soldiers frisking Iraqi women. But it's likely that the American conquistadores are acting out in ways that are typical of occupying armies throughout history. The brutality and ugliness of war is normally suppressed, but not this time. These guys were lied to. They are mad as hell, and they're going to tell it all.

Last year, I recall a friend at work mentioning that he would soon be able to talk about Gulf War I...
If you talk they can and probably will punish you. They have already said they are going to punish those servicemen who were speaking against the war on TV today

It will backfire and blow up in their faces. The troops are already talking to their spouses and other family members via mail. What? Is the military going to punish thousands of servicemen and women?

:hi: nice choice of avatars. ;)
The military can intimidate and pressure. It can make an example of a few. This is the first I had heard of the GW1 12-year gag rule, but I had wondered why we weren't hearing more from the Gulf War vets as we went into this invasion. The Vietnam vets have been out in force.

....coming. All we need is another couple of WP type reporters and that is what has to come to light yet. Hang in there it is coming!!!!
The anger is building now just as it built at the beginning of Watergate.

7. This is what happened in Viet Nam |
|
as well. It took several things to turn public opinion against that war but the first were the soldiers coming back from the war telling us what was REALLY happening. It was a little more difficult for the "America, love it or leave it" crowd to continue screaming their mantra when a significant portion of the anti-war protesters were Viet Nam vets who had BEEN THERE.
I've no doubt this will be the same situation. In that this adminitration* has decided the troops will need to stay over there for awhile, I'm heartened to see some of the families on national TV expressing regret that they supported this unelected pResident and his lies that sent young men and women to their deaths.
