Question for the Kucinich supporters... |
|
I think most of the Dean supporters have said they'd support the nominee with some (myself) excepting only Lieberman. With all due respect, you guys seem to be a little more hardcore. Will Kucinich supporters support the nominee if it's not Dennis? What if Dennis or Nader runs on the Green ticket?
Thanks.

6. Kucinich is more of a mainstream party Democrat than the media will say. |
|
Ass if by painting him as fringe it will keep his numbers down and voice muted in the general public.

The media LOVES to portray Kucinich as a "radical weirdo." He represents mainstream Democratic ideology more clearly then they want to acknowledge.
I love that I have the opportunity to vote for a person of his caliber in the nomination process. His being a Dem nominee gives me a bit of hope for the party. It is a move away from the embracing of corporate interests over individual civil rights.

2. First, DK will NOT run on the Green ticket |
|
He has said so on many occasions, so that point needs to be completely dismissed out of hand.
Secondly, nobody here can speak for anybody except themselves, but THIS Kucinich supporter will vote for whomever the nominee is -- I'm just hoping that some of what Dennis is saying finds its way into the platform, should he not get the nomination.
What anybody else does, only they can say for certain. I don't know of any DUers who are mind readers.

3. Kucinich Has Stated Publicly That He Will Support The Party Nominee |
|
I support Kucinich and will support the nominee.
Despite that, I realize that the democrats chances for are very low.

4. Dennis will NOT run as a Green, or leave the Democratic Party!! |
|
The reason many DK people will not commit to ABB at this point is that THE FIRST PRIMARY OR CAUCUS HAS YET TO BE HELD!!
Why should we be co-opted into supporting some of the meagerly qualified candidates(even though they are better than Bush) at this point? This is just a way of trying to pressure us.
When our candidate is selected, and IF it is not DK, then you have a valid question.

5. gawd, that is such an offensive line of "inquiry" |
|
Kucinich supporters only support Dennis Kucinich being made Lord God Emperor of All He Surveys, didn't you know that?
And he's not only secretely a Green, he's a tool of Grover Norquist as well! I swear its true! This guy with a blotchy complexion on FOX told me so.
of course, even though this should provoke only a collective eye-roll - it'll spark a lengthy, pointless thread. Let the pointless namecalling begin!
GO!

Most Kucinich supporters that I've spoken to have said they'd vote green if DK loses. That's just my experience, but I've seen people say it here as well.
Considering that, I don't think this thread is unfair at all.

...support any Democratic candidate, except for Liebermann... If Dennis runs Green, I'll vote for a Democrat, even though I'm ideologically closer to greens. My attitude is that we simply don't presently have the luxury of sticking to our ideologies -- we need to defeat a cabal, a junta, not simply an ideology.
If there is a Bush-Liebermann race, then there is no prospect of any real change in government -- the same interests that are ruling through * would still be in charge under Liebermann. I would then vote for a green, more as a statement of desertion to the Dem party that chose to be represented by * lite.

We are just aggrevated is all ok, its not easy being a Kucinich supporter when unelectable rhetoric is shoved down your throat. We get quite defensive.

22. You are generalising ALL Kucinich supporters with this statement.. |
|
I don't recall having stated my position and I DO support Kucinich. If you want to bash us with something that you can back up that is fine. To just say,'Fucking hypocrites. Keep pretending you have any principles', well that is a bit far fetched IMO.
Because a few are saying they will not vote Liberman then that is how we ALL feel? Hmmmm
I'm still out and refuse to state my position until the primary is over even then I will probably not know who I will vote for until the end because things change daily and a year is a LONG time from now considering the state of this country and our world.

12. I dont support DK, but the thought that |
|
he'd ever become a green is absurd. Ralph could offer him control of the all the companies he wants to nationalize and throw in every single Merk share he owns to boot, and Kucinich would remain the progressive dem he is.

24. I echo John, in part: Dennis will not run on the Green ticket |
|
But it's becoming more clear that there will certainly be a Green ticket if Dennis isn't the Dem nominee, and possibly--though I and others are strongly arguing against it--even if he is.
For my own part, I'm planning to vote for Dennis, either as a check-off or write-in.
Thomas Jefferson remarked that there seem to be two groups of people: one that believes in democracy and wants people to enjoy the full fruits of their work; and one that believes in aristocratic oligarchy, and wants to keep the people under the thumb of their 'natural rulers'.
I don't know whether it's an age thing, or a class thing, or some concatenation of factors, but at DU there certainly seem to be at least 2 groups claiming to represent 'the' Democratic Party. And they do seem to divide along the fault line Jefferson identified.
I'm a member of the pro-people faction, and Dennis and Al seem to be the only candidates offering to actually represent me. The other candidates want my vote, but want to represent the 'natural rulers'. We can see that in the positions they take.
But I'm not prepared to vote for someone who won't represent me, so for me 'ABB' doesn't work. I voted Gore in 2K, but I won't compromise myself again. I'm all I've got.
I believe there'd be many fewer votes for the other candidates if people really sat down and thought about the whole thing for awhile. But I'll be 63 soon, and I've spent 50+ years being the nerdy outsider, so I don't plan to hold my breath til that thinking happens. All I can do is say what I perceive to be true, and then vote that perception.

:hi: take no offense. I agree although I plan to support the nominee, that we need better than ABB, some message, I said this last night and was told I cant afford to vote my concicious, first of all I can if I want to, and second of all that was a misintepration, ABB may work for some and I see it to a degree, but we need some unity message. I am not involved with the Greens so I dont know what is going on.

I am a Kucinich supporter and will vote for any of the Clark wins the nominee. But his supporters indicate that won't matter because Republicans will vote for Clark and make up for my vote.
