The Bush-haterism has got to stop! |
|
Remember back in the day (oh, say, a year ago) when we were all outcasts, a minority of anti-fascist rebels within a majority of media-brainwashed fools who actually supported Shrub?
Well, how things have changed. It feels like yesterday that I would've died just to see someone criticize Bush on national TV, or to vividly witness how disgusted a large number of people were with the HNIC (Head Nincompoop In Charge) on my television screen. It was rare to hear any mention of anyone having anything negative to say about the "President", at least as far as the mainstream media was concerned (excellent websites like this one notwithstanding!).
And now, after the tides have turned and about half (if the polls are to be believed) of the American population has come to see what an evil bunch of deceitful assholes Chimpy and his neo-con administration are, we have been hit with the label "Bush-haters".
We are no longer "anti-Americans", or "terrorist sympathizers", or "Saddam lovers", or "wacky leftists".
We are now "Bush haters", according to the mainstream media and the rightwing talking heads within it. And as "Bush haters", we are no longer in the minority. The "Bush-hating" population is expanding--rapidly. And it will continue to expand, as long as the tide continues turning and the assholes in the Bush cabal are exposed for the corrupt traitors they are.
We are Bush-haters.
Doesn't it feel great?

Bush's "You're either with us or you are against us" rhetoric has done nothing except marginalize, isolate, and imprison people who would have disagreed with him and his policies.
He's turned people against him and now that the election is coming around all of a sudden those americans he persecuted are just supposed to somehow not be angry or hate the man for who he is and what he's done.
Fuck that! Those conservatives should really have thought about what would happen when they went after people like that.
(On edit: the subject line didn't fit with the rest of my message so I changed it).

|
It doesn't help to hate Bush -- just to hate his policies.
Sorry if that sounds like Romper Room or Mr. Rogers style advice, but it's true. The media doesn't just identify us as Bush-haters -- they DISMISS us as Bush-haters. As long as they can explain our motivation as personal dislike for Bush, they don't have to take our issues seriously. We're not complaining because Bush has destroyed the economy, squandered our international reputation, and gotten us into a senseless war... we're just complaining because we hate Bush.
Maybe you do hate Bush. That's fine for you, but it doesn't help your cause.

|
It doesn't matter that our arguements are substantive, they work for the Bush Crime Family and they are going to paint it as frivilous. WE aren't doing this, THEY are. My guess is that you are relatively new to this battle. The media is owned by the conservatives and no matter what is said or done by us it will be misrepresented by the Republican-owned press. So the idea is not to allow their smears to affect us. They will not help our cause no matter what we say or do.

..that we hate Bush for being Bush? Dubya's merely a puppet--he's simply a pawn in the neo-con game. What I, and many other DUers I'm sure, hate about Bush is what he REPRESENTS--greed, corruption, and most of all, deceit.
I'm sure there are those that hate Bush for the way he speaks (like a complete idiot), or looks (like a friggin' chimp!), or smirks constantly. But I'm sure most of these people also realize that these dreadful quirks are just the face of something much more evil.

Bush is an incredibly polarizing figure. Any right wing extremist who throws around the term "Bush hater" is inviting people to question whether or not they themselves hate Bush.
Calling someone anti-American is an insult. Calling them anti-Bush is an invitiation to think critically, to associate all the negative things happening NOW with Bush. I love it. I hope they keep saying it.

I don't know why it's so hard for the chattering classes to mark that distinction between hatred and unflagging contempt. It seems pretty clear to me.
Let me guess, "contemptuous of the Bush presidency" is like too many syllables. Okay, that explains Faux. So why do others jump on a meme like that without thinking it through? Seriously. It pains me to see Molly Ivins and the like engaging with these knuckleheads on their terms. Will it ever end?

It feels sick, I never dreamed in my life so many people could be so stupid. When I was young I was always distrustful of people telling me how good things are. Your post is in the same vane as the rest of Corporate Media. Oh please tell me how good I am supposed to feel, Gee I there are other people that don't like * that much either, I am supposed impressed and happy that I have company, well I am not.
I would ask where were these people in the first place. I would say some of them fence walkers or the confused ones are even part of the problem. When we get 39% of the population voting which could mean less than 20% of the population put this current foolish congress in, there is a real problem with other Citizens of the USA not pulling their weight.
We have this growing population of slackers coming over to join our side. Excuse me, that does not empress me. Nor does the grouping of morons that voted Arnold in, but the turkey is in the oven

from his policies. Hate the policies, but don't hate the man. Molly Ivins had a very nice editorial in the Oregonian newspaper today, and she was differentiating between the man and his policies. "he's not a bad guy", she writes, "but he's just wrong".
Sorry, I get an F- on that one. The policies EMERGE from the man. I'm unable to separate the two, no matter how hard I try.
So --- yes -- I'm marinating myself in good old fashioned hate, and nothing is going to change that until next November.

He's a walking talking failure trail and as far as I'm concerned, he's stupid. A person who is not stupid would not find themselves in the situation he's now in, and would not have dragged this country down the way he has.
The economy, Afghanistan, Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, Iraq in general - where are the successes? The man cannot even talk to the press without a crib sheet. Stupid is as stupid does.

24. I Don't Hate Bush, I Hate Bush's Policies |
|
I don't personally hate George Walker Bush, I hate his policies. I hate his and his party's efforts to repeal the Great Society, the New Deal, and even repeal parts of Theodore Roosevelt's Square Deal. I detest this administration's sorry enviornmental record, and I detest this administration's efforts to further repeal enviornmental protections and to ignore the mounting damage of their policies. I am infuriated by the Republican Party's ruthless power grab by forcing redistricting here in Texas and in other States like Colorado. I detest this administration's efforts to curb reproductive rights (No, I'm not just talking about abortion, I'm talking about all forms of birth control) and this administration's efforts to shape social plicies according to the whims of arrogant, ill-informed, doctrinaire religious zealots. I have contempt for this administration's efforts to curb public transit and its negligence regarding alternate energy production.
Only an unthinking right-wing fanatic or a second-rate media hack can call me a "Bush hater."

I always think it's BS when Jerry Falwell and his ilk say it. I don't.
I want the RW extremists to suffer. Badly. I want to (metephoricly) carve out thier hearts and feed them to the alienated, disadvantaged and marginalized people in our society - I want to help everyone they have harmed.
Bush and the GOP are a cancer in the body of America; their goal, as stated by Grover Norquist, is to kill the Federal Gov't leaving multi-national corporations at the top of the political food chain. And guess who they give money to?
The longer they stay in power, the longer they have even the smallest influence in American politics - the harder and more painful the recovery to real representitive democracy will be.

|
I was watching C-SPAN last night and the Dem Reps were giving "special order speeches" and every one of them were directed at Tom Delay who apparently has told our reps that THEY are unpatriotic because they voted against Bush's $87 billion. Apparently (I didn't hear what he said) he said that if they didn't support the war and our prez then they didn't support the troops. NOW, there's a man to HATE...and I do. He's such a vile, hateful slimebag.
Yes, I hate bush and everything he represents. As a person? He's just as disgusting. I've read about things he has said and done "behind the scenes".....he is not Mr. Christianity. Just the opposite. I read an article about how Rove came to make Bush's Christianity an "issue" in his campaign. What a joke.

The chimp is just their puppet and to make him the target is to miss the greater threats. They ran him cuz he can go out and act like 'one o' the boys' when the real powers have to remain mostly faceless (or at least pretty obscure) owing to the fact that no one would actually vote for them and they couldn't even mount a credible sham election with their machines.
Now the chimp's job is to take the flack so the shadow government can still operate. They are crooks at best. They need cover and we need to keep turning the lights on and uncovering their activities.
Sure, oust the chimp, but remember that he is not the prize nor the power. Don't keep the focus on him at the expense of not exposing the actual puppetmasters.
edit: add a word for clarity

|
It shows how desperate these people have become.
For the record however, I find hatred as a destructive emotion, and therefore try to avoid it as much as possible. Loathing is more appropriate a term for me. But seething hatred is a waste of energy and blinds an individual.
I am happy to see that these RWer's are full of hate for me, because I am not in step with the corrupt admin we have now. Let them hate me all they want, after all, you reap what you sow. Finally, the seeds of our work are beginning to show life, and the demise of this admin is on the horizon.
All I want is to get our country back. No more RW shills leading us into destruction. The 'fake-riots' that follow this regime, are falling by the wayside, and the screaming of the RW is being ignored. There is hope, and we will return the country to its citizens.
I just pray we never have another admin that even comes close to this one.
