Congressman Tom Tancredo (R) |
|
of Colorado is on FOX News Live with Alan Colmes tonight and is absolutely ripping the Bush Administration over its lack of effort towards homeland security and immigration laws. He even mentioned a phone call from Rove in which Rove yelled up a storm for him questioning the President. Good stuff.

1. Tancredo is one of those big anti immigrant people |
|
I've done some reading about the movement heh I dont like they like Bush because of how he pretends to be friends with those "dirty mexicans".

I cannot tell you how many times I have clicked over to CSPAN or CSPAN2 late at night, and there he is, railing on about immigrants to a mostly empty chamber...

3. Pick an easy target-> become RW hero |
|
I have heard Tancredo praised on talk radio many times. Pick on Gays or immigrants and you are bound to get RW support from somewhere. Funny though how Rove throws a hissy fit when anyone criticizes his creation (AKA Dubya).

Tancredo is an interesting character. He is more of a 'classical' or 'Burkean' conservative than the Neocons running the administration.
Tancredo shares some viewpoints with folks like Pat Buchanan.
Tancredo is in favor of tighter border security, restrictions on immigration, etc. while the neocons want a 'totally free market' where your job and my job can vamoose the country and go to someone who earns $1.50/day in a sweatshop on the border of Thailand with Kampuchea.
I'm not sure of Tancredo's position on trade and tariffs, but would guess that he supports tariffs, at least to a mild degree. I would guess that he supports a strong U.S. dollar.
Most people on this board would strongly disagree with most of Tancredo's positions, while agreeing with a few of them, especially right at the moment.

5. There are some real conservatives |
|
left in the GOP, but they are vastly outnumbered by the recationaries/necons. Actually, the number of reps true to their ideologies (left OR right) is small compared to the partisans. I have some grudging respect for Buchanan and this guy, absolutely nothing but contempt for Delay and his ilk.
