Bush greets vets, pupils in whirlwind O'ahu visit
"...Hickam Air Force Base tarmac that was bristling with dozens of Secret Service agents, military police and Honolulu Police Department officers. Only about 20 members of the general public were there, invited to greet the president along with high-ranking military officers and Gov. Linda Lingle."

"Bush, making his first trip to the Islands since becoming president,..."

Sure, this is bu$h's only trip there. I'll bet they didn't take him to see his dads messed up signature at the Punch Bowl. The one next to Clinton's.

"The president also was expected to meet with Pacific island leaders, speak to the Hawai'i Republican Party and attend a fund-raiser for the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign committee this evening in Waikiki before flying home to Washington, D.C.""

Always one or more fund raisers on each trip. Money is everything with these people.
This is a far cry from when President William Jefferson Clinton traveled.

2. Probably had to import them from the other islands too.

The locals are too laid back to get much of anything organized on time. But I understand bu$h had to go past lots of protesters. That says something.

Clarification: The subject line was a comment about the 20 the greeted bu$h.
