AP: Free Republic draws a few dozen. . .LOL
10,000 or 100,000 its still a hell of a lot more than a few dozen. LOL

Thousands Rally for End to War in Iraq

By JENNIFER C. KERR, Associated Press Writer

The protest in Washington drew a diverse crowd — young, old, veterans, relatives with loved ones in the armed forces and American Muslims. An activist group of older women called the Raging Grannies, singing anti-Bush songs, brought whoops of agreement from the protesters.

Organizers estimated that 100,000 people turned out for the demonstration, but police at the scene put the number much lower, from 10,000 to 20,000. Police no longer issue official crowd estimates, so the size of the protest could not be verified.

The D.C. chapter of Free Republic, an independent grass-roots conservative group, gathered a few dozen people at the U.S. Capitol to show support for Bush and the troops in Iraq.

10. You don't understand...

they had to work.

...or was it that they had other things to do.

That's it! There's a Rush Limbaugh vigil/KKK roast going on that they just couldn't miss.

5. FReepers always do that
They email the papers and news stations and tell them they are going to have some HUGE turnout to counter the protesters. The best they can do is get 40-50 people together, usually it's far less than even that. How weak. I keep waiting for someone to post about the counterprotest on FR but haven't seen a "report" yet, just links to the AP article. Did anyone run across any of the fabled FReepers today in DC?

7. Problem is that
They show up to vote instead of protest. I'm not sure protesting is the way to win back every major federal office but as long as people are trying...

14. Excellent Point!
And that has REALLY GOT TO CHANGE!!!

"Problem is that they show up to vote instead of protest."

I believe that with all this ENERGY everyone has, it needs to be channeled into making sure that people understand how important it is that they get out there and VOTE!!! (Some) people need to learn to stop ~whining~ 'nobody good to vote for...it doesn't make a difference...nobody listens' Well if the majority of people in a certain district don't get their butts out to vote, WHY WOULD they care what 'you' think? The candidates are gonna play to the ones who actually vote! So, if you wanna be heard, you better SHOW them that you and your family and your neighbors ACTUALLY VOTE!!!

And for anyone who still 'doesn't believe'...just ask Steve Bartman if he feels that 'one man can't make a difference'?

12. I sense spin...
The general tone for the protestors seems ... a bit more negative than the Free Republic peeps who showed thier "support for Bush and troops in Iraq". I guess the operative words are 'in Iraq', they want them in harms way for no reason.

The protestors were supporting the troops in a much larger capacity.

13. Hmmm, Yahoo - funny - since an earlier post elsewhere listed
a site which had a list of celebs that the RWers should shun.

At the bottom, there was also a list of "Valuable News Sources".

Yahoo Entertainment was on their list. Not as a leftist source!

How long before Yahoo is back up there, since they probably overestimated the freepers crowd, which still hurt the FR "ideal".

Here's their list:

VALUABLE
NEWS SOURCES

Newsmax
Worldnetdaily
Yahoo Entertainment
Media Research
Times Watch
Drudge Report
Google News
CNSNews Service
FrontPage Magazine
Billboard
AlterNet *
The Progressive *

* Leftist sites

16. As we passed them
They started yelling die commie and their usual diatribes of stupidity. Then one super-intelligent freeper yelled we're teh majority...

20 freepers (who had more policeman guarding them then there actually were of them
vs.
75,000-100,000 protestors.

Some majority
