Everyone agrees the Vietnam War that started in the 60's is now over.

4. It won't really end, it will only move |
|
remember, bush claims this is all part of his 'war on terrorism', so he'll just keep moving the same war around so he can deny starting any 'new' wars.

7. Assuming we win in 2004 |
|
it'll take 1 to 3 years to successfully disengage from Iraq.
First step will be to flood the country with food and medicines and gaudy party hats. Then, during the celebrations, we declare victory, bring the troops home and have a parade up Broadway.
Hey, it woulda worked in VietNam, why not now?

My prediction is that the terrorists/insurgents will intensify their attacks over the next couple of months and that nothing can be done to prevent this from happening.
I think the US has to send in more troops ASAP Don't ask me where the hell these soldiers will come from because I really don't know the answer to that.
The EU has to swallow its pride and help out for the sake of the Iraqi people and I believe this will happen. As much as I deplore Bush, I don't think Chirac's attitude has been very productive thus far. We are all in this together whether we like it or not. More killings of american GI:'s over there can not possibly be in the best interest of any truly humane nation.
I believe this conflict will continue into the next decade.

A guerilla war that will last as long as there are people who hate the US enough to pick up a gun or build a crude bomb and use it against us.

10. politically engineered outcome |
|
if we can assume that the war will be a major political liability for bush and the republicans in Congress during next year's elections, I can see at least the possibility that "victory will be declared" roughly 4 to 6 months before the election ...
perhaps that should have been one of the choices ...
the poll made very little allowance for a "politically engineered outcome" ...

And I think they're still gnashing their teeth in the West Wing over the stupidity of that maneuver.
Maybe if Clueless repeats his "bring 'em on" speech more forcefully, they'll be frightened into submission.
I'll bet that Bush and his neo-con handlers are pushing very hard against Powell and State to have a military "crackdown". This, of course, would end in disaster, but this is a crowd who prefers to shoot their way out of any perceived problem. And that's one of the reasons this war was started in the first place. They thought they could go and kick some butt and make the world before the might of the US. Pride goeth before the fall, and dilrod doesn't understand the first thing about guerilla warfare. He thinks that a war against an idea (terrorism) can be won with military force, so I'm sure he thinks he can prevail against guerrilas who are angered to the depths of their souls.
I wonder how many Game Boy's have been smashed against the Oval Office walls in the last 24 hours.

W started shit with people who don't forget a slight EVER. They have been fighting each other for less for over a thousand years. It was a bone-head manuver no matter how you slice it. Any American parent with a son should be beyond pissed off at that turd right now. His arrogance put all of our sons at risk. I figure I've got 15 years to move my family out of this country before they snag my son too.
