Do you think Herr Gröpen Fuhrer is starting to feel out of his league?
He doesn't know anything about budgets, wildfires, or state emergencies. Thousands are without homes and are desperate. Herr Gröpen Fuhrer wants to rescind Davis' decision to increase the vehicle tax registration in an attempt to pay off the debt. Does Herr Gröpen Fuhrer have a magic wand that we don't know about?

When Bundeskanzler Gerhard Schröder said he would raise taxes after his election, to pay for damage in flood-ravaged areas, many voters felt betrayed.

How long will Herr Gröpen Fuhrer's honeymoon last? He's going to have to come up with the goods pretty darn fast.

1. This maybe the shortest honeymoon in history.

Depends on how close people are paying attention. The media lovefest won't last long.

22. Arnold will be recalled?
If the fires are still burning when Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-nold takes office and he melts as expected, he'll probably just forget the voters, his popularity will plummet and he'll be recalled.

Then it's Governor Bustamante!

23. it will last until
he "forgives" the money that ENRON owes Caly-forny-a

that money could put a serious dent into CA deficits, but AHHH-nuld doesn't want to be "bothered by another administration's law suits"...

and here we thought he wasn't beholden to "special interests" :eyes:

24. The Republicans are going to do their damnest to make sure
Ahhnold succeeds. And considering the apathy the American people are towards the idiot in chief Bushie and considering a majority Democratic state selected Ahhhnold as governator (sic) I would be very suprised if there was a major backlash if/when (I read Palast's article and was totally sickened by it) but nevertheless I would be very surpised if Ahhnold suffered much for settling with Enron for pennies on the dollar. The Republicans are masters of spin control and I am sicked by it.

11. Gary Trudeau came up with that gem
Edited on Mon Oct-27-03 03:22 PM by lebkuchen

The BelAire brushfires around, when, the 60's?, burned 500 houses. I don't think anyone died. The current CA fire has already burned 900 houses with 13 deaths. It will burn twice that many houses before it's all over.

Der Gröpen Fuhrer isn't going to triple Cavis' car tax, and so will increase the deficit by millions more, not including the damage done by the brush fires...

Those who voted for Der Gröpen Fuhrer have put a hell of a lot of faith in an untested showhorse. We shall see.

4. The repukes (Rove) will use this to bolster Ah-nold
and stop any attempts to bring his fondleliness for women he's not married to to justice. "Ah-nold has his hands full. There's no time for partisan politics, blah, blah, blah. He's needs to quickly get Enron off the hook for the gouging and get busy campaigning for shrub. Besides, those women have already had their time in the sun next to the very, very heroic actor/groper/governor/drug user."

Where are those ladies who accused him pre-election? I HOPE they're preparing a class-action suit against him. The sooner, the better.

5. Scwarzenegger said no new taxes *unless*. . .
there was a natural disaster or some such "reason from God." There's speculation now he'll use the excuse of the fires to raise taxes, which gives him the ability to get rid of the taxes he said he'd jettison during the campaign (thus keeping his promise) while he hides behind the fire disaster to raise taxes elsewhere, thus accomplishing the same thing Davis was attempting to do but with the ability to say he did this against his desires but, "what can I do, there was the fire and all that".

10. Ah-nold actually said that?
Isn't that 2 parts of the trifecta quote that bush* said he campaigned on when it is really a quote by Al Gore?

I don't recall hearing about that. Link appreciated.

15. Could have been a Republican shill. . .
or a mindless local television reporter. Sorry for that. As I reflect on where I heard this, I realize it came from one of this morning's reports on the fires (I live in South California and flicked around the channels all morning, trying to find out if a friend's home is in danger). So I have neither a link nor verification for this point. Next time, I'll wait until I'm fully awake before I post.

14. That didn't work for Schroeder, who wasn't planning on floods
post-election, but at least he made fiscally responsible choices. Most people in Germany drive BMWs, Audis, and Mercedes, are dressed well and are eating healthily, w/cradle to grave care. There is a huge middle class in this country, and one doesn't see much suffering, though the Germans may think otherwise when they have to pay more in taxes. They're still not as high as Denmark, and that country has the lowest employment rate in the world.

7. Scandals? Hidden funds?
How long will Herr Gröpen Fuhrer's honeymoon last? He's going to have to come up with the goods pretty darn fast.

If the Republicans want California in 2004 they are going to have to shell out the money in 2003. They want 2004, so the money will show up from somewhere other than tax dollars. Bet on it.

8. I think he started to realize this when
he found out from GWB that even a "republican" governor ain't getting any help from the feds. I think he was under the impression that salvation was forthcoming from his grateful president, only to find out that shrub f**ks over republicans too. And he thought PLAYING a leader was tough...

He'll probably go bonkers trying to handle the situation. Maybe he'll just stay in Sacramento with his harem and say "Fuck Y'all!" to the SoCals? :scared:

Gray Davis is handling the situation well. I betcha many people are thinking 'Awwwwwww, shit!'

25. If he was any kind of super hero at all, he'd blow those fires out!
Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 05:33 AM by Hubert Flottz
I mean super hero Republican! The Ill Foul winds blow out of Are-Nill's snout, as he feels around,,,,for the emergency exit door to Arizona! He's asking Bush to have Brown and Root build him a Reichsfuhrer Dick Cheney model Gruppenfuhrer bunker in an undisclosed location today! He's big folks, but he's a big chicken, much like the rest of the gasbag gang!

Arnie and Georgie are betting on the trifecta and looking to haul in some political loot from the fires that threaten his people! KKKarl will be able to spin how Arnie did it all allmost singlehandedly when the fires are all put out, and Bush will push for more deforrestation!

Arnie should have been smart enough to have seen what a calamity the country has become, because Bush stole Al Gore's job, before Arnie stole Grey Davis's job! Somehow I don't think Gawd is a happy camper because of all of the stealing going on in Umerikkka! Gawd remembers how bad his only son felt, when they hung him on a cross next to a thief and a killer! I suspect that that would piss me off too!
