We must keep spreading this Smoking Gun re: the Bush election theft!
Let's not let this story die until it's been sufficiently distributed throughout the media, throughout Congress, and to all of the Dem presidential candidates! This is the cornerstone of the BFEE/PNAC Coup - the move that landed the Evil Chimp the insurmountable title of "president-elect!" This is also the best argument for rejecting Diebold and touch screen, and adopting Rush Holt's bill to preserve/restore democracy in America! PLEASE, people - spread this article far and wide! Just think what this single criminal act has cost us and the entire world so far!

2. That is the question - how to get the word out and KEEP it out?
We need to be very organized and intentional, I think, about contacting local media (print, radio, TV) and remember to contact not just the "biggies" but places like campus papers/radio stations, local papers, papers in small surrounding communities to a large urban area, etc. We need to ask/demand that coverage be provided of the issues that we feel are important. Squeaky wheels getting the grease and all...
It is also important I think to spend some time and money to make sure you register your opinions with the White House, your representatives in the House and Senate, your state and local representatives, and MOST IMPORTANT, call/write/e-mail Faux News Network, CBN, Focus on the Family, the Eagle Forum, etc. and let them know that we are NOT going to take their ideological indoctrination attempts lying down!
Just a note on the Eagle Forum - PLEASE take the time to send to them articles and examples of the vote theft that occurred in the 2000 elections - they are seeking examples of LIBERAL vote fraud in an effort to dig up dirt to counter the facts of the Repugnican theft of the White House...
Let's inundate them with the facts about the party they support...:puke:

6. No one cares any more about election 2000
And people dismiss anyone who talks about these machines as being conspiracy nuts.

Sorry that's the truth.

I do think that there are some legitimate concerns regarding BBV, but the recent very public flame war over this issue here at DU has damaged the credibility of those issues.

9. I agree
Whether legit. or not, Bush must be defeated b/c of failed policy not 2000 theft. Gore also dropped the ball by only asking for recounts in select counties. Credibility was lost after that.

16. A common misconception
Gore had to ask on a per county basis. And given how many counties had Republican election judges, who would be deciding to whether to allow a recount, he had to do it that way. That was the law in FL.

10. Flame wars at DU
Flame wars at DU don't damage the "crediblity of those issues," they damage the crediblity of DU.

In fact the concern about computer voting is becoming more mainstream by the day, and questions about the role of possible computer vote fraud in 2000 are perfectly legitimate in thinking about the future of our electoral process.

Thanks for the post, and KICK

13. Flame wars? Ever heard of an argument?
The term "flame" is a sign of our society's mental decay into mindless and harmless diversion.

Argument, preferably waged with the tools of logic, is a natural and creative process, and need not be derogated as "flame war."

Argument does not discredit DU; its frequent descent into cheap name-calling does. As do those who try to discredit and prevent argument by calling it "flaming."

Of course the stealing of 2000 remains important! It all remains important - all the lies dating back to as far as we can expose them. We live in a veritable Matrix of lies; there will be no magic future lie that exposes the whole rot. That requires memory, serious historical work. Some are too lazy for that, and like to blame the people.

I say, let the people finally hear some truth; maybe they'll realize how badly they've been fooled all along.

FLORIDA WAS STOLEN SIX WAYS FROM SUNDAY!

As for jiacinto's way: letting crime pay and forgetting about it is a predictable way to encourage crime. Your prescription basically is to pursue a weak strategy that you have decided "the people" prefer. This will lose the election. After this, you will predictably blame it on flamers, leftists, Greens, whatever, anyone who was not loyal to the party line as defined by your mentality - the line of say nothing, do nothing.

Great.

17. What can be done now?
Please tell me. And the thread I was referring to was the one about BBV in which three DUers got into a public fight.

I am not saying that we should "let crime pay". But since 9/12/01, if not even 12/13/00, people have moved on.

People don't want to hear about the "stolen election" of 2000. The truth hurts.

I wish it were different, but that is not the case.

18. Then you are certain to see it happen again!
How relevant should it really be whether or not people want to hear about a crime committed?? The vast majority of Americans may have also already gotten over the misadministration's lies about the threat Iraq posed and the need for invading it. Should be just move on and let them off the hook on that one as well?

22. A lot of people earlier this year said that
we should forget about the WMD lies, move on. It took the CIA to revive that one for us. How bad are things when the work of an opposition party has to be done by the CIA?

If that's not an impeachable crime - what the hell is? (Other than outing a CIA agent, or falsifying justification for starting an illegal war!! etc...etc...etc!)
