A note on the Qusay Ubey thing, and the proper stance on it |
|
First off, in my opinion, there should be none of this talk about conspiracy or assassination. These two guys were just plain old bad. They aren't the type of people we should EVER be defending or complaining over.
The proper way to handle this?
Here's my take on it: Wow, it's really great that they got those guys. But, was getting a 1 day headline about taking out two bad guys really worth 1 billion dollars a week? Is it worth 1 soldier a day? Where are the WMD? What happened to them? The President still lied. What's the deal with this CIA guy who's wife had her cover blown out of intimidation? Isn't that a federal crime?
I think the press corp is on to all of these things. FINALLY.

4. Like Saddam, they may put out their own videotape. |
|
Dead or not. I don't care and I don't think it matters that much.

6. bush* is a fool if he now gives $30 million to saddam's cousin... |
|
seems that bush* minions plan to hand out $15 Million reward for each body, and since it was saddam's cousin that supposably turned them in...for 4 charred bodies, $30 Million is a lot of money...OUR tax dollars at work...
this is almost as foolish as the $28 Million that bush* gave to the Taliban as foreign aid in May 2001, which no doubt provided the funds for the 9/11/2001 attacks....bush* is a really slow learner...

7. That is a very weak arguement. |
|
To say that the importance of "getting" these guys was a photo op will not work on freeptards. I think that tactic is way more tacky than you are claiming the idea that Bush wanted them rubbed out is.
The correct response is to say that we believe in the rule of law and would prefer to see people like these subjected to the justice system in their own country where their alledged crimes occured and where the victims of those crimes deserve justice through due process.
Of anything killing them in a 4 hour gun battle where they were outnumbered 20 to 1 makes them sound like Davie Crocket not the criminals they are alledged to be.

13. You're calling his arguement weak? Hah! |
|
No, the correct response is not to defend these henchmen. You do it if you want to but it's ridiculous to expend any good will on these thugs. You go your way and hopefully the rest of DU will go SGR's.

8. I agree completely and would add North Korea |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-22-03 07:41 PM by gulliver
They could kill Saddam's whole family, but what does it do to make my family safer? Nothing. It's a distraction.
Russert said that North Korea might have 10 nuclear bombs by the end of the year. That's 10 more than they had under Clinton.
Those bombs are the elephant in the room that no one seems to have fully appreciated. Just what we needed. All thanks to George the Idiot and his crew of geniuses.

...all three network nightly news programs, and was pleasantly surprised that, with all the news of the day...Saddams sons, Jessica Lynch, Eiffel Tower, and more...each still had the 16 words in the news. More damning then ever. On NBC they even implicated Condi.
