Hardball alert for Thursday
Ed Gillespie to be on Hardball. The new head of the RNC. We should expect Tweety to box his ears over Nigergate.

2. Thanks for tipping us off.
Found this on Ed Gillespie:

(snip)Edward W. Gillespie was selected by President George Walker Bush as National Chairman of the Republican National Committee on June 16, 2003:

"Gillespie, 41, was strategist for Elizabeth Dole's 2002 Senate campaign and was a senior communications adviser in Austin for Bush's first campaign. Gillespie is a founder and principal of Quinn Gillespie & Associates, which represents energy, steel and timber interests, plus such corporate giants as Microsoft Corp. and Verizon Communications Inc.

"About two-thirds of the firm's work is government relations and the rest is public relations and strategy, he said. Gillespie, who was chosen partly for his skill as a partisan pundit, was a drafter of the House GOP's "Contract With America" in 1994, and rose from his job as a nighttime telephone solicitor in the basement of the RNC headquarters in 1985.

"Democrats have long said they plan to try to paint Bush as a tool of corporate interests, and the Democratic National Committee seized on Gillespie's former representation of Enron Corp., the collapsed energy-trading company with long ties to Bush. The Democrats issued a statement with the headline, 'Bush Taps Enron Lobbyist to Head RNC.'

"Public Citizen, a liberal advocacy group, published a 25-page report calling Gillespie 'an embedded lobbyist' and asserting that his appointment 'has opened a conduit for corporate America to strengthen its already formidable influence in the White House and Congress.' (snip/...)
