In retrospect, Bush visits Tenet at CIA after 9/11... |
|
and declares he has full confidence in him and thinks he is doing an excellent job. In retrospect, knowing what we know today, it appears it was "I'll cover your ass on this one and you owe me one..." Flash forward to the controversy about the lie in the SOTU speech... Tenet is called up to take the blame and reminded of how his ass was covered after 9/11.
Then we read in Wash Post article that Stephen Hadley had prepared report on al Qaeda and bin Laden on Sept 4th of 2001 - one week before the WTC disaster. The August 6, 2001 briefing has been totally classified? What was the "national security" issue talked about on August 6 that was such of an important security matter that none of it can be de-classified? ( as a sidenote, Hadley did agree to take blame for not informing Bush of the nature of the lie in the SOTU speech, but Bush declined to take his resignation) I'll cover your ass on this one but you owe me one??

1. good point kentuck. If it wasn't important to security enough to heed it, |
|
in August 2001, why would it be soooooo ultra important now?
You said:
"What was the "national security" issue talked about on August 6 that was such of an important security matter that none of it can be de-classified?"
If it could be waved off as nothing then...then there was surely not much to it, right?
Oh, maybe this is just a coverup? Ya think?
