Edited on Sat Jul-26-03 08:06 PM by althecat
PLEASE KEEP THIS WELL KICKED SO THAT PEOPLE WILL KNOW TO CONTRIBUTE.

And DUers.. the last thread is almost all me... I have seen you guys post links faster than John Wayne... So far I am holding out... but eventuall sleep will come..

THIS POST SUPERSEEDS...

PLEASE KEEP IT WELL KICKED SO THAT PEOPLE WILL KNOW TO CONTRIBUTE.

DUers are is the eyes and ears of this story. It is now nearly 1pm here in Wellington NZ. And 1am in London. Lets keep on marking everything that moves in the media on this, Net, TV, Radio, Papers etc and post reports and links here... This resource is invaluable. I

This post - as stated above - needs regular kicking and fostering by youse guys. And replacement once it gets stale. At the momment it is very easy to find an excuse to post to it.. all new links are extremely welcome.. and all new threads on the SUBJECT OF E-VOTING should post cross refrences here.

If anyone interested in a new referral log analysis on this. From what I can see Scoop's traffic is not picking up today mainly because our Buzzflash and Whatreallyhappened links have dropped on those pages.

There is a discussion on how you can help propagate this story in this post

--->A REQUEST - How U2 Can Help Scoop Rock The world...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=84234&mesg_id=84234&page=

Which also needs a good kicking.

Finally.... Specically calling all slashdotters... there are DU slashdotters I presume... you have an assignment.

SUBJECT: Dear Michael... a really really really big favour to ask...
TO: Michael Rivero - http://www.whatreallyhappened.com

Dear Michael... a really really really big favour to ask...

Scoop calling. You are by far the staunchest on the sites on E-Voting I know of. Not to mention 911. And your traffic is incredible. Traffic is now dropping off on the older links on the fp..

How bout a link to.

http://scoop.co.nz/mason/features/?s=usacoup

Near the top... In the panel you have set up.... ideally. There is a huge ammount of new material from Bev and I on this.

You can take a local copy too of you like you did for the other stories when we first published. It would would also be good if Bev did the same on blackboxvoting.org...

In fact everybody else who wants to is welcome to do so too. Everyone Is also welcome to reproduce entirely or part by part all the postings I have made here on DU today.

Scoop has awful transmission times to the states for some networks I expect... Sorry. We are where we are. But that can be a good thing too.

I have also tuned down the Front page... a bit and can easily do so some more once the traffic comes on.

... Scoop will reciprocate with a Fire The Liar cartoon on Scoop's Front Page ...

http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/#usa
... is a smaller version set in a NZ context ...

Most of the links on these page segments go out of scoop... they go everywhere man..

Slashdot precautions....

http://scoop.co.nz/mason/features/?s=usacoup

I am seeking a slashdot link... to the same page... and one on Yahoo Full Coverage. Buzzflash has also been rallied to the cause. If everybody posts this link then we may well have problems again. Hence the local copy taking precaution idea. Even if we do go down... the story will keep on rolling..... and the key source material is not only on Scoop. It's on you DU & Blackboxvoting.com. Plus The Inquirer in the UK.

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=10393

Perhaps you could ask WRH Slashdotters to submit.. That would be totally cool.

http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/07/24/153258&mode=thread&tid=103&tid=126&tid=128&tid=99

But while it was slashdot that took us out last time. With a sudden peak. Over the first three days during the peak

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/

WRH is our top referrer... NO 1# By a country mile... and for that you get a chorus of.

Note this page has a redsheriff code embedded in it (we have recently signed up to try to sell advertising) you can delete it if you want. But if you leave it I can monitor traffic extremely accurately. I will be happy to share all information.
I have already shared a fair bit on DU.org..

http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/07/24/153258&mode=thread&tid=103&tid=126&tid=128&tid=99

It is very interesting especially this bit I reckon...

Your joke made me laugh. But the sad thing is that it is the whole point of voting machines.

A paper ballot and a pen is the only form of ballot I trust. And if they don't count the ballots AT THE POLLING PLACE in plain view of the public BEFORE they ship them off to the court house you can't trust the result.

Paper ballot boxes get tampered with all the time. A machine that most people couldn't understand is NOT going to make voting less prone to fraud. If I can't take apart the machanical voting machine to see if it works correctly and I can't look at the code of a computer program and see if it works correctly then why SHOULD I trust it?

We allready had a major election full of obvious vote fraud(On both sides. Bush was just better at it THIS TIME. Gore was just as crooked just not as effective.) Voting machines are just one more way to cloud the issue. A voting shell game run by slick con men.

DEMAND paper ballots! Demand that votes be counted and posted AT THE POLL. Any thing else is a sham!

Michael I knew I could count on you.

This may seem very presumptious but it may push slashdot into posting another story and that is what we really need.

At present the FIRE THE LIARS graphic you have in the middle at the top to the page is not linked to anything...

Would you consider linking that to us and sticking the words.

10. Georgia Offical Is Confidant In EVMs - http://www.gainesvilletimes.com
http://www.gainesvilletimes.com

Hall official is confident in voting machines

staff, wire reports

Hall and Marion counties became the first in Georgia to use the electronic voting system machines made by Diebold Election Systems in last August's primary election. All 159 counties used them in the November 2002 general election.

The state gave Hall County 276 of the machines last summer. Anne Phil-lips, Hall's election chief, said the county has since purchased 60 additional machines, bringing the total to 336. She said the department hopes to add 25 more in the next year.

A study released Thursday said the machines have significant security flaws.

But Phillips said Hall hasn't had any problems.

Dear DU

I have had more fun on a computer today than I thought was possible. And it is all thanks to this wonderful place. Thanks for bringing me here Bev... I can see why you spend so much time here.

Tomorrow is Monday here and I will be back online from early Afternoon your time. Hopefully by then SlashDot will have woken up.

Washington Post WEEK IN REVIEW July 20-26
Sunday, July 27, 2003; Page C04

A touch-screen voting system that Maryland plans to buy and install in every precinct in the state -- for $55 million -- has security flaws that would allow voters to cast multiple ballots and enable poll workers to tamper with votes, according to a study by the Information Security Institute at Johns Hopkins University.

State officials who signed the contract said the report is one more example of "technological hysteria." Officials at Diebold Election Systems Inc., makers of the system, said that the Hopkins study was flawed and that the voting software had passed rigorous security tests

21. It's an expected response from the people...
... who authorized the purchase of the machines. They're going to defend their decision-making process, no matter what. What needs to be said in this instance is simply: "do you believe Diebold salespeople, or Johns Hopkins University?" And, "you might save your state's elections if you simply do what you would do with your own family physician--get a second opinion."

*smile*

Cheers.

THE REAL SCOOP
ON DIEBOLD
25th July, 2003 by Fintan Dunne,
Editor http://www.GuluFuture.com

On 24th July, 2003 an important story broke. Johns Hopkins University researchers found that electronic voting machines are full of security flaws which can allow fraudulent election results. A scandal indeed.

But like many reported 'scandals' this is a pseudo-investigation. In truth, the news was two weeks old. Alternative media site Scoop.co.nz first broke the unabridged full story, by Bev Harris --back in early July, 2003.

Dear DU.

Sorry about yesterday... you were very tolerant. I was a bit manic I know. Not the best frame of mind to meet new people. Today I am feel back on solid ground. So that is good... and I intend to stay here.

We have been getting good traffic overnight on.

Though still no slashdot link so nothing spectacular. I have added links to these campaigns to the page..

There are more campaigns out there so if people can send me the links or post them here it would be appreciated.

I wonder how appropriate it is to be driving traffic into these areas now. My original intention was for it to bring media to where they can find out a great deal more.... and see that it wasn't a fluke ... like they would have read in the Washpost. And also to take readers to where they can connect with others. On the other hand that can be done in other ways...

I could just link to the general DU general discussion forum Front Page. This would probably be sensible I think.

And do people know of any other discussion boards that have been going off on this. It would be good to link to those too.
