Have Libertarians taken over the GOP ? |
|
I think the GOP has been borged not only by the neo-cons, but by Right Wing Libertarians, knee-jerk libertarians, and know-nothing libertarians. I don't think it is your father's GOP anymore.

1. My father was a Republican. |
|
If he were alive today, I don't think he would recognize his party and what it stands for.

2. that would be the best thing to happen to them |

true libertarians are diametrically (don't you love that word!) to the neo-cons that are in charge of the party.
Barry Goldwater was a true libertarian conservative. He HATED the religious right more than any Democrat could. He hated for what they did to his party. He was a man of true character. If he was around today, I think he would be as pissed at Bush as the Democrats are.

The only ones who might be are the know nothing ones.
Big "L" Libertarians in general support an isolationist policy and call openly for withdraw of all troops from everywhere in the world.
The one in RP are just american facists who think librertarian sounds better than police state thug, or international gangster.
I wish a few more libertarian knees whould jerk so the patriot act would go down for good.
