had a hatred of clowns as one of the central beliefs:

Have you ever noticed that in a significant proportion of ghost stories or stories about toys that are evil (both real and fictional), clowns seem to feature predominantly?

Why is this? What is it about a clown or a clown toy that is associated with evil or ghosts?
