If you have a yahoo email account |
|
You may get "notes" from yahoo administration about problems with the account. It is a worm http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/pf/w32.beagle.j@mm.html I just put that address in my blocked list.

1. I have a yahoo account |
|
and my bulk mail box has been filling with e-mails that are from people I don't know, saying that my e-mail (to them??) had a fatal error or something similar to that. I figured it was a virus, but then my neighbor's address ended up coming to me saying that an e-mail that I never sent her was returned. I haven't downloaded anything at all from any e-mail (that I haven't known the recipient and anticipate the arrival of the download). I don't know what's going on so I just keep deleting those messages.

2. I've been getting tons of these in my Yahoo boxes |
|
Lots of virus attachments. And a ton of spoofs. Spammers and hackers have probably spoofed your email address. I wouldn't worry too much, it happens to everyone.
Scripts also send out viruses and spam to your address book as well.
Yahoo does have good spam protection compared to others, by the way.
Take advantage of the Bulk Mail folder, and set it to automatically delete mail as it arrives.

4. This means that someone who has your address got infected |
|
and the virus is using the emails in that person addressbook, thus it seems as if it is coming from you.
As others have said, I look at the subject lines of my bulk folder and then delete it completely. But today I got two emails from administration @yahoo.com so I put that address in my blocked one. Some months back I kept getting messages from microsoft to update a software, or something with an .exe file which my Mac cannot use even if I wanted. MS said it was not them so to end it I put it, too, in the blocked addresses.
I don't know what someone is hoping to accomplish, as opposed to spam trying to sell you something. And some weeks ago I read about someone in NY who actually welcomes the spam and buys stuff.... ugh..

3. I don't ever look at my Yahoo bulk mail box. |
|
I delete everything about every 3 - 4 days. Usually around 150 build up by that time. A few get thru to my regular mailbox and I report them to the Yahoo mail server as Spam.
