Poll question: Which household chore is anathema to you? |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-13-04 06:40 PM by Delano
For you repukes, "anathema" is something loathsome or reviled.

17. Yes, and if you can find me a woman who'll do it for me |
|
I'll marry her...provided the 'pugs don't pass that stupid amendment!
Oh wait - that'd still violate bigamy laws, and my husband would have to agree, too. Of course, if someone was willing to come clean the house, we'd do pretty much anything for them.

I have a self-cleaning oven. I have birds. Self-cleaning mechanism kills birds. (It heats up and emits fumes.) Ergo, my self-cleaning oven is, for all intents and purposes, no longer self-cleaning. (It's not exactly eyesroll-cleaning either -- it's dirty.)

It seems like the two men I live with (SO & son) have clothes that must clone! And I'm the one stuck with it, since I'm home most of the time. My few paltry pieces of clothing somehow will get taken care of after (usually my 22 year old son) has his way in the laundry room/changing room. God, I hate laundry!!!

It's so hard to get good help for free these days. If Chimpy weasels himself back in though, maybe we can start renting low-risk prisoners cheap. ;-)

11. I bet the gov't could auction Martha's services on ebay! |
|
Take care of the deficit and everything!
Let's see.... "Martha... please remodel the bathroom on Monday... and make it match my bedroom. Oh yes, I would like to have a steam bath installed. Great idea! For dinner? Oh, just whip something up... simple and elegant is best."
they could call it the "Queen for the Day" prisoner rental program!!

but that's because I've been a "homemaker" for the past decade or so. I could so live alone!

We haven't cleaned house for almost 20 years. The dirt hasn't killed us yet and it tends to keep the riff-raff out.

13. Cleaning out closets and drawers. |
|
I'll do almost anything to avoid it. But I love watching Clean Sweep (TLC) and The Life Laundry (BBCAmerica). Peter from Clean Sweep says you don't have to keep something just because someone gave it to you. That has been a most liberating piece of information. :D

14. Cleaning out the fridge |
|
There's always way too much stuff in it, because nobody in my family can resist buying neato jars of sauces and preserves and chutney and whatnot. So leftovers tend to get shoved to the back and abandoned and go all moldy and yukky. And as for the fruit and veggie bins -- don't even ask!
I don't enjoy housework, but most things I can force myself to do before they get totally disgusting. Not the fridge, though.

Containers, jars, bags... It's better that way. And you feel like you have really accomplished something. :D

16. I react to the vacuum the same way the cats do |
|
"Scary noise monster! Must run and hide!" Makes it very hard to vacuum. Thankfully, we've gotten rid of all our carpeting, so now I can just sweep. Good thing, since my three Maine Coons shed the equivalent of one normal-sized cat a day between them.

18. Getting pissed at the cat |
|
for pissing on something in anger or jealousy over the dog. I really don't want to get upset, but it happens. Then the dog acts like he's a perfect dog, and I get more upset, because then I think about all the poop to be cleaned up again in the yard.
Anybody want some really good pets?
