Man Robbed As He Lay Dying In Street
<snip>

As he lay dying on a Detroit street, someone robbed him.

Police found Donald Dillon, 44, of Hamtramck on Tuesday morning in an auto wreck at the intersection of Victoria and Goddard.

He was dead. His pockets were ransacked. His wallet was rummaged.

The crime disgusted even street-hardened Detroit cops.

"It just goes to show you that people have no respect for the injured or the dead," said Officer Mitchell Quinn of the department's fatal squad.

Dillon was a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier that collided with a Dodge Caravan at 2:12 a.m. in northeast Detroit, police said. The driver, Carl Oates, 54, of Detroit, was also killed and had to be extricated from the car.

4. well, anyone who would rob someone anytime
probably wouldn't concern themselves with the morality of robbing an already injured or dying person.

3. You would expect that to happen in India, or Egypt.
That kind of stuff happens all the time in the third world, but to have it happen in Detroit, just shows you how close we as Americans really are to the rest of the world.

10. Does it now?
I assume you've spent years cataloguing cases such as these throughout the third world. Or maybe you are just generalising with no evidence to back you up?

15. Once, a few years ago in Trenton, NJ... a woman was hit by a
bus and pinned underneath. While under there, she was robbed by a bystander, and raped by one of the firemen there to "rescue" her.

Camden, NJ
a few years before on a hot summer night
an ice cream store was robbed by two men with guns, the manager recognized one of them and called his name, they shot him, leaving him seriously injured behind the counter
he lay gasping for breath and help as he was stomped to death by neighborhood children stealing ice cream.
the coroner said he could have easily survived the gunshot wound, the repeated crush injuries killed him.

16. Detroit has a reputation as bad crime city
Not too surprising to me to hear this. Big cities that are relatively safe are New York (hard to believe), San Diego, and Seattle among others that I saw in a recent survey.
