...that would be willing to print this stuff if it was really true."

This is what my best friend in the world just said to me. She thinks I've gone mental because the things I tell her *aren't front page news.* For example, that it's pretty obvious that the Shrub admin was at the very least, warned about Sept. 11th, at the worst, M/LIHOP. I've showed her the PNAC site, I don't think she'll read it though...

*sigh*

I hate being called a conspiracy theorist. Especially when the truth is in plain sight. It just makes me sad, this is my best friend of 15+ years, and instead of taking a moment to listen, to at least look into it for herself, it's just immediately dismissed as CT...:(

1. With me, it works the opposite way
I'm always telling people shit they don't know and they instantly believe me. I have no idea why, but I figure it might be a testament to the high opinion they hold of my intelligence and honesty.

That my best pal doesn't have the HIGHEST esteem for my clearly overwhelming intellect and honesty?!?! :silly:

Well no, I guess she knows me too well for that...;)

15. Oh, I forgot you're in Texas...
I dunno if even the mighty Fenris could save that wasteland...it'd be fun to see you in a 10 gallon in your campaign commercials, however. :7

Still tho, with the Dolo endorsement, how could you lose? ;)

2. My very best freind who was saying stuff like that to me slowly came
around.

Some people really NEED to believe that their government wasn't complicit and would have stopped the attacks if they could have...it's a belief that their very sense of security hinges on.

Just keep hitting her with factual mainstream sources that call it into question.

She's usually not at all into that sort of thing. This evening, she asked for sources re: the election being stolen. Unfortunately I reformatted (twice!:grr:) this past week, and lost all my bookmarks. I could've probably found them if I'd dug around, but we were having quite the heated debate and I couldn't get to them. If it were any other time, however, I could send her a million sources and I'd be *shocked* if she took the time to read them. :(

3. Calling someone...
A "Conspiracy Theorist" is how the frothing right marginalizes arguments that make them look bad.

While they foster conspiracy theories of their own. Funny how that works.

It's just intellectual bullying.

6. Well, I did mention that...
I don't think she meant it as bullying, it's more of a Pavlovian response, unfortunately. :(

5. My husband is slowly and painfully opening the eyes of his fellow
coworkers, who were so eager to spit back the Fox pablum that they had been lapping up. That ridiculous performance at the press conference the other night is also going to wake up a lot of people. As is the remark that this is going to get rougher before it gets better. Which doesn't quite gel with "Mission Accomplished". I know it's rough.

10. Thanks MrsG
I just HATE arguing with people when I don't have ALL the facts on something...but fuck sake, how's anyone supposed to have all the facts from this bunch of lying a-holes??

The  helps, tho. :)

9. You're right to start with PNAC, but start with the members page
and show how many of those clowns are highly placed in the misadministration. Point out that, while they are indeed Internet wackos, they are the ones who form the Bush, uh, brain trust for want of a better term. Leave the LIHOP/MIHOP stuff for when she actually starts thinking for herself again; it does indeed sound like conspiracy theory until the scales start dropping from your eyes.

13. One little sign of success I've noticed
The british Daily Telegraph, used to quote these low life right-wing think-tanks that we all know about ending with the "... an independent non-partisan think-tank" gunk that again we are all used too.

The other day I noticed a think-tank quoted and they called it " a consevative think-tank."

I think yesterday the was an op-ed article by a Heritage guy which ended with "... the Heritige Foundation is an institute with links to the Bush administration."

I was quite happy to read that actually. ;-)
