Most annoying sports casting "innovation" |
|
All from Fox, BTW ...
The blue fairy hockey puck ...
The piss yellow first down line ...
The flying Fox camera ..
The lead-off-first-base-o-meter they just showed?
I vote for the last, but all really piss me off.

especially when, once in a blue moon, the refs get it wrong, usually off by 5 yards.

3. Don't forget Sound FX going into and out of replays |

Makes a ballgame sound like an episode of Batman. Another reason why Ruprecht Murdok must have all his assets siezed and be deported when we regain the White House.

5. The neon hockey puck by far |
|
It actually made me watch less hockey.
I like the yellow first-down line and the flying camera. It's just too bad I don't like the game of pro football.

6. Wait till Fox implements the glowing red strike zone |
|
And it will be shown for each batter, and be the size that the rule books say it is. Then we can all get even madder at umps who feel they have the power to say what is a strike and what isn't. Strike zones are NOT wider than the plate, and they DO go above the navel.
Can you tell I'm a bit sick of their being a different strike zone for each ump....sometimes several strike zones PER ump?

Christ . . . isn't the DH bad enough?
I say the worst thing ever to happen to baseball broadcasting is Joe Morgan. He's the worst. Joe Morgan is the worst. For baseball broadcasting, no one's worse than Joe Morgan.
(did anyone get that?)

I'd rather listen to Howard Cosell, John Madden, and Dennis Miller, all calling the same game, than listen to Joe Morgan.
Putting aside the fact that some ballplayers should never become broadcasters, Joe just can't call a game without repeating every phrase about forty times.

Joe Theisman is an @$$hole ... he's so pissed off and bitter about his broken leg all he does is rag on the current players. Plus, he's never gotten over the Red Skins/Cowboys rivalry.

|
that Morgan's repeating himself is a tic, the verbal equivalent of the cocked elbow cranking up fifteen times as he awaited a pitch.

Weird! I do remember Mark Fydrich, though. "The Bird." Talked to the mound, patted it, babied it. He didn't last long either, but only because he didn't have what it took to stay great.

13. The lead-off-first-base-o-meter Has To Go |
|
The letter writing starts now.
How dumb. At least the first down line gives us a reference we may not otherwise have.
This thing tells me squat.
Oh wait! A-rod is 3" further than last time, but Tim A-Rod never steals unless he's 6'9" or more from first. He's only 6'8" so there's no way he's running.
give me a break.

I now own the trademark and copyright on the name "lead-off-first-base-o-meter" (r)(c), so you owe me a nickel.
