Day Three without smokes... |
|
oh, the humanity. The usual cute antics of the kitties are now just annoying. They're avoiding me now.
The boyfriend was told in no uncertain terms that if he "helps" me anymore while I try to play a videogame, he'll be single again.
Saw Kill Bill, Vol. 2 last night. I can relate to Uma. I wish I had a Hattori Honzo blade with which to smite my enemies (mostly my cats and my boyfriend, but if I left the house, I'm sure I'd make more).
Nicotine gum - they say "chew it until it tingles", and if "tingle" means "burn", I think I'm doing it right. It seems to help. It gives my mouth something to do other than bite my bf's head off.
If I ever hit 75, I'm gonna take up smoking again.

8. Cold turkey, 15 years ago. |

You can do it and it's really worth it. The only downside is that when my sense of smell came back, I could smell myself, too.

Day three is the hardest, by far. It will get better, slowly, after today. BTW I used the patch, and if you want to quit, IMO it works. If nicotine gum isn't the way to go, I recommend patches. But whatever you do, keep plugging and you WILL be successful.

Woo Hoo
About the gum. You have to remember to stop chewing and rest it between your cheek and gum. Thats when it releases the goods. Too much chewing of that hard gum and you get Nicorett Lock Jaw.
Chew a bit and rest it, chew a bit and rest it.
Keep it up. You already smell better.

...day 3 is one of the hardest, but you CAN get through it..!!
just remember that quitting cigarettes is harder than quitting drugs!
I've been smoke free for 7 years now, went cold turkey and got through with a lot of will power and hugs from the loved ones.. so PLEASE, don't kill the kitties or the BF.. hug them instead, you're doing a good thing..

I've been cig-free for almost six weeks now. If you can make it through the first week, the second one's easier, and so on. Just remember, you're doing yourself a favor!

Yeah, I know. I quit smoking years ago... I remember how easy it gets after awhile. But that still doesn't take away my desire to beat up random strangers.

I've never smoked, I know that I have no idea what it's like to quit.
But some years back I saw a program about a smoking cessation program in which the participants spent two weeks in a hospital. At the end of the first day, one woman in the program said all she could think about was how badly she wanted a cigarette, and that as soon as the two weeks were up she knew she'd be lighting up again.
On the last day, she said she was amazed at how good she felt -- never having realized that while smoking she always felt a little crummy -- and she couldn't imagine ever smoking again.
I've always hoped that woman stayed off cigarettes, and her complete change from wanting nothing more than to smoke again, to wanting nothing more than never smoking again, has always stayed with me.
Stick with it. You'll never regret it.

I know it is so tough.... it'll get better.
I have been smoke free for over 3 years now, (every so often i get a real strong craving for one that normally goes away in a few minutes)
I would agree with you.. if I get to 75 also I probably take it up again.
