1. I've *heard*...
that if you place a towel over it, and run a hot iron over the towel, it will absorb the wax

however, I have never acually tried this before...

Get an iron...

take a paper towel and fold it in half and place it on top of the wax....take the warm iron and press it on top of the paper towell...the wax will stick to the paper towel and come completely off of your carpet...

Works like a charm!

2. Try a paper towel and a warm iron
Not too hot or you'll burn the carpet! Iron over the towels to melt the wax and the towels should soak it up.

3. Ice, then a butter knife
Use the ice directly to harden the wax, then use the butter knife to scrape off whatever will come off, then set your iron on warm only (NOT anything higher) and cover the wax with paper towels; apply the iron as if you were ironing the carpet to melt the wax. This will get most of the wax out; nearly all depending on the type of carpet materials and the extra stuff in the candle wax. Good luck!

10. Forget cloths, forget paper towels--BROWN GROCERY BAG & iron
Edited on Fri Apr-23-04 06:10 PM by Shakespeare
I can personally attest to this working well. Place a grocery bag over the offending spots, and then iron on top of the bag with a hot iron. As the wax melts, the brown paper soaks it right up.

13. Place waxed paper over the spot, then iron carefully.
I used this method to remove candle wax from a pair of trousers I wore while waiting on tables. While removing candles from the tables one night, I managed to spill hot wax on myself. The waxed paper removed it beautifully.

14. PLEASE READ!!!!!!!! Former ServiceMaster employee's advice:
Gently remove as much of the wax as possible with the dull edge of a knife, your fingernail, etc. . Then place a clean, white washcloth or towel over the wax and run your iron over it (low or medium setting). Change sides/washcloths as often as neccessary, until no more wax is absorbed.

Apply mineral spirits to a clean, white absorbent cloth and gently workinward from the edge of the wax, removing as much as possible. Repeat as often as needed. DO NOT APPLY THE MINERAL SPIRITS TO THE CARPET ITSELF! If you have a carpet cleaning machine, use it to extract the remaining wax. Use at least 4 'drying' passes for every 'cleaning pass'. Finally, place a clean white towel on the stained area and weight it down with something heavy that will not rust, etc. (a brick in aluminum foil works well).

Let dry 24 hours. You may have to do this several times to completely remove the wax.
