Spring Flowers
I love spring flowers, especially daffodils. They last a couple of weeks, while the weather remains cool. Hot weather knocks them out. Tulips tolerate hot weather better, and they are very pretty. I saw a stunning display of yellow tulips in front of a residential building yesterday - there must have been over a hundred of them.

But ... each year I tip my hat to the lowly crocus. After an interminable winter when I'm just about convinced Spring will never come, crocuses stick their heads above ground, sometimes blooming through the snow.

T.S. Eliot called April the cruellest month, for bringing lilacs out of the ground. Well, that's his opinion, not mine. But I can see why he says that. Spring flowers are lovely, but they don't last.

1. I have a huge white lilac bush. It's just getting going.
Spring flowers are terrific but I'm a huge fan of leate spring and early summer. Peonies and allium.
