Need help locating a city |
|
I'm doing a critical review for my Psychology course (last essay ever...wohoo!!). The paper in question is about attachment of children to their mothers and behavioural problems if they go to child care centres. Very tedious.
In it, the author notes that the participants (179 low income mothers) were recruited between 1996 and 1997 from "low-income, suburban neighborhoods near a large Pacific Northwest city." Participants lived @ or below the federal poverty level and spoke English well enough to answer interview questions. 7.8% of the participants were bilingual.
The problem is that I have no clue which cities are large in the Pacific Northwest. LA and SF I know of, but are there any more?
Any help would be gratefully accepted.

here goes: Seattle, Portland, Spokane, Tacoma, then they get alot smaller. how small ya wanna go? I'n not sure people consider LA and SF to be pacific northwest. they are a little more south along the coast.

7. heres some things to consider |
|
In the Pacific Northwest you have a few groups to consider. First you have a Native American population with health care issues from alcholism to lost healthcare from budget cuts. Secondly you have a migratory farmer population, used on the apple orchirds and such. They have absolutly no health care. Third you have a "disenchanted" youth movement. Those kids seeking the "Nirvanna" culture in Seattle and Portland. Teenage pregnancy, drug dependancies, the works. And finally, this is the weird one no one wants to talk about. The Ultra right-wing christian identity groups. People so afraid of living around anyone non-white they move into the remotest areas of Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. They seek medical attention from time to time, keeping to themselves most of the time. They use old cars to barter. I'm not kidding about that. You can tell a Christian Identity compound by the number of beat up cars in the yard.

got some family there. ohhh wait I just thought of something. You need to look at serial murderers and their mothers. Its amazing how many started up here. Ted Bundy, The Green River Killer, The Spokane Killer, The hillside strangler in cali came here. we got tons of killers LOL

British Columbia, Canada has that pig farmer serial killer. His name is Robert Pickton and he's a real piece of work. So far he's been charged with killing 23 and he's suspected in the killing of 60+ women, mostly drug addicts and prostitutes. http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial_killers/predators/robert_pickton/
