web techs, a simple MySQL question |
|
I have a MySQL database on my server, presently there's a phpBB connected to it. I want to install the MovableType blog system, can I use the same MySQL database or would I have to make a new database for the blog?

A new database for it, with its own unique database name. phpMyAdmin would make that a trivial job.

I just got Red Hat 9 on a box, so I finally have a linux machine. What would be the best book to learn about Linux?
I'd ideally like to get to hosting my own blog, and setup a GIS database in MySQL using an open source mapping server

3. Check out www.MinnesotaForKucinich.com-- we have both running |
|
We have both Movable Type and phpBB2 running on the same database, along with a couple other applications. We also use PHPMyAdmin for db administration tasks.
It is possible to run both of them on the same server and even in the same database, if you're inclined. We run both on the same db because we only get one db with our hosting package, and it seems to work okay.
PM me if you want to take a look at how we do it, and I can send you the gory details.
