So tell me about the Mr. T Experience |
|
a friend made us these great punk CDs, including said band. I have heard of them, but not a lot. I liked what I heard, particularly all the songs about the Ramones.

1. Jon Von (who played in the Rip-Offs) was in the MTX. |
|
They had a couple of great singles (like "Alternative Is Here to Stay!") and a couple of less-great albums.
Much in that San Francisco pop-punk sound typified by bands like the Hi-Fives.

3. my friend sent us a great mass of music |
|
wtih such as they, the Queers, some Angry Samoans ( I remember them), the Methadones. (I liked their sound as well). I love pop-punk. I missed a lot of stuff in grad school and when I was in a band, so I have a lot of catching up to do.
thanks

If you want to hear the BEST punk band, and one the greatest songwriters of today, I would suggest listening to Alkaline. All of there albums are unbelievable. not one bad song on any of them, but if you never heard them, I would suggest starting with "From Here to Infirmary"

8. Isn't "She Said Yeah" a cover of a '60s garage band? |
|
Or am I thinking of a totally different song? The Cynics covered it.

9. I think that's a different one... |
|
...either that, or I've been completely discombobulated.
It's been known to happen.

11. you know about the Cynics |
|
that's cool. I used to see them in the 80s since I live in Pittsburgh and they are friends of friends. Actually some good friends were in early incarnations of the band. In fact I was at party and talked to the singer at X-mas time. Interesting company he has.

Tongue-in-cheek, all purpose pop-punk that doesn't take itself especially seriously. (Best album title: "Too Late to Change the Name.") They've been around for-freakin'-ever -- I remember hearing their (hilarious) tune "Danny Partridge Busted" in the late '80s, IIRC. Unlike most pop-punk, I find them non-hate-worthy. Worth a listen, for sure.

10. You would like them, based on the other music you like |
|
that you've posted about here. I like them, they're funny, which is often a good thing. And like everyone else has said here, they have that Bay Area pop-punk sound going on.:hi:

How are you? :hi: I love any kind of bubblegum/pop/punk/post-punk, but I also like music with some political grit. But a band with hooks and content, that's the best!

12. Band from California, I believe. |
|
They were on Lookout! Records for awhile, they might still be.
Enjoyable pop-punk. All things considered, not too bad.
