Letterman disses Kerry..
I'm a DEAN supporter but this even pissed me off. He showed video of Kerry announcing his presidential candidacy with a banner saying "another guy that doesn't have a chance in 2004"

Look I'm not a Kerry fan but he would be a thousand times better than bush. I'm I living in the fucking twilight zone? Bush has destroyed the country and they say Kerry does not have a chance? Fuck you Letterman!

2. This is why.....
.....it's stupid to invest too much clout in these talk-show guys.

I see people here cheering and jeering Letterman one night, cursing the day he was born, the next.....Leno, Miller, Maher.....Take your pick.

"Did you hear what Tweety said about Coulter? Damn! He nailed her to the WALL!"....Did you hear what Tweety said about Dean? Damn him! He's such a WHORE!"

That's their job!....Swinging back and forth and playing to both sides of the aisle....Up today, down tommorrow...You can't expect these guys to do the job that we should be doing ourselves. Being too thin-skinned about this only brings on more grief than it's worth.

4. EXCELLENT Point!
I don't put much stock, one way or the other, in what celebs say about politics, except for the ones who have put some serious effort into it (Janeane Garofalo on the left, and Ted Nugent on the right).

Such will be the Tragedy of Arnold: A liberal Republican, pushed to take increasingly conservative stands, unaware that he's been made into everyone's bee-yotch, hated by his own GOP partisans, bloodied and bruised at the end of the election, win or lose. And he'd better pray that he loses.

13. I don't watch news, only late night tv and I do put some stock in it
Edited on Wed Sep-03-03 12:49 PM by BEFOREATHOUGHT
Not because it effects me. It affects Joe and Jane public who love to be told what to think. The people in the audience laugh at anything I concede that, it shows how easy they can be led. I know I overreacted I was almost drunk when I heard it. I met a WW2 vet earlier in the day that was very mad at Bush, and on Democracy now they had the first homeless vet from the current Iraq war on. My angry is over boiling mixed with some red wine I over reacted. I have not watched news in close to 6 months so I don't worry about that.

3. Letterman...
I think he thinks of himself as a blue collar guy despite the fact he makes 20 or 30 million a year.

There's talk he's retiring soon. I hope not.

(I like Dean and Kerry and Kucinich)

5. He made the same joke about Dean
last week I think.

It's just a joke.

Dave ridicules Bush often, showing actual footage of the dickhead, and it's funny, but he makes it clear that he's pretty serious about what a fucking idiot gw is. His anti-bush stuff well outweighs jokes involving the dem candidates.

9. He's just trying to get their names out there
Nobody knows who our candidates are! It's his subtle way of giving them publicity. Letterman bashes shrub way more than he bashes dems. Every night he shows what a moron Shrub is with that "George W Bush Joke that's not really a Joke" thing. He shows what a complete idiot we have for a president. The other night when Al Franken was on, they took shots at Faux News, O'Reilly and Shrub all in one show. It was a total trashing. I loved every minute of it and so did Dave. He was laughing hysterically at Franken describing what a cry baby O'Reilly is. You could tell he just loved it. Dave is most definitely on our side. He has to throw them a few bones so it's not totally obvious, but he is.

10. Don't forget that Bush has always benefited from low expectations...
... so this whole "Democrats don't have a chance" thing might not be so bad. It's forcing Bush to run as something other than the underdog...

11. Probably trying to "de-polarize" himself.
May be an effort to redeem himself in the eyes of the other candidates' backers that he's taken potshots at. (And please excuse the dangling participle).
