...to kinda give my wife a "jump start" here on DU. But it turned out that she didn't need it - she fit in just fine, and came into her own here on DU in a very short time.
I'm proud that she has assumed her own identity. It's one of the things I love about The Princess - she's her own person, and not afraid to speak her mind, and stand up for what she believes.

But DemoNC didn't really melt my butter. Besides, I still have my links to Texas. My great-great-great uncle was Sam Houston's vp and the second president of the Republic of Texas, Mirabeau Bonaparte Lamar. Also, I still have a Texas Democrat sticker on my Subaru wagon. I'll stay DemoTex. That has worked for over 42 months now. Besides, Skittles would kick my ass if I changed my DU name.

but I saw a Strongbad joke on the name change thread and thought, "Hey, that suits me a lot better!" My former SN was a name I originally wanted to name a future daughter, but later decided that it wouldn't work with my last name, so I started using it on the internets instead. I wasn't very attached to it, though; my new name is a much better method of showing just how big a dork I am.
Plus, when we get avatars back, I have a dancing StrongBad av!

I'm not gonna be in college forever, and better not to be thought of as a college student upon seeing my SN as long as I post on DU, heh. When I first joined DU it was over three years ago (don't mind the faulty date in my profile) and I couldn't even imagine a time that I would not be in college yet, let alone that I would still be on DU at that time.
Now, well, let's just say that maybe some day the clerk will call the roll and this is what he or she will say. :)

I never cared much for my original username, and would have scrapped it sooner, except that I was racking up a considerable post count.
When Skinner announced the amnesty, I jumped on the chance.
KrazyKat just is more memorable, more expressive, and more reflective of who I am -- I like cats, of course, and I'm an art lover, and I particularly appreciate the work of George Herriman, the creator of Krazy Kat.

I'm 50 years old, for God's sake, and I've been using it since the 1980's. But nothing seems inspired, and people know me by it. I like the William-Kennedyesque 'Ironweed,' but it sounda like a hobo, a stoner, or an alcoholic. I could use my real name ('JackNeefus'). That' the real choice here. A week and a half left.

I'd like to see this country stop going from one extreme to the other--and fast! I think we should see the pendulum stop swinging and have a happy medium for this nation to thrive, both on our own soil and in the eyes of the world. Hence, the name StopThePendulum.

Zing Zing Zingbah is the name of the orange boohbah on the "Boohbah" show on PBS (it's similar to the "Teletubbies"). My two-year-old son watches the show sometimes, and he likes it. So the name is meaningful to me in that it represents something my son enjoys. I also like it because it's a fun, memorable kind of name that's just a little bit over-the-top in terms of silliness.
The other boohbahs' names are Humbah, Jumbah, Zumbah, and Jingbah. I get a kick out of all those names, but Zing Zing Zingbah is definitely the zaniest name of the bunch.
