I see the picture of it, but damn if I can figure out a lot of what's on that skillet.

2. the important part is underneath
These are special swiss-made stoves. You take slices of a certain cheese ("Raclette", made in France and Switzerland) and put it in little pans to be roasted in a electric table-top grill, along with whatever you like. A great social meal.

The traditional way is to use half a cheese, i.e. quite a lot, and melt the surface along the cut in another special, swiss made device. It is probably better, but less fun.
