B. didn't know this was old news
C. has nothing to do with Star Jones perse
D. don't know what DL or Down Low is

10. Nope, it's not just internet rumor.
Here are a couple of MSM links. The fiance didn't help the situation much by that oddly worded statement he released. He's been "out" in NY for awhile, and I find the whole thing, from their relationship to the tacky corporate-sponsored wedding, to be just weird and sad.

by a whole bunch of corporations was really tacky.

13. You don't understand my post, it has nothing to do with Star Jones.
There is a phenomena in the black community called DL (down low)and her man is on the DL. A man that is gay and married. Not necessarily bi and out of the closet but gay-in the closet who is married to a woman.

6. What makes you so sure she didn't know?
If they get along and he can get it up enough to keep her satisfied, who cares?

I hope it lasts.

Would you have made a post like this about Iman when she married bisexual David Bowie?

Or is it different then because she is thin and he's British, and bisexuality is a rite of passage there?

11. I think he made the post because the whole thing is bizarre.
It's almost as if she decided to go out and buy herself a wedding, with the requisite groom to go with. It's a Liza Minelli-David Gest level of weirdness. I don't think it has much to do with anybody's body type or their country of origin.

And the wedding has to be the tackiest thing I've ever heard of in all my life.

16. The bizarre thing to me is that Star Jones is considered a celebrity.
All I know is that she's a heavy black woman who comes on that show the View (which I never watch).

I don't see why people are so fascinated by this person.

20. True, that is what makes this whole thing really absurd thus the humor
in it...she became a joke bridezilla in her quest to marry a man on the DL.

26. well that's just it, NO ONE IS! She's used this wedding to generate
publicity, like she's all jealous of Paris Hilton or something.

She is a nobody, with nothing important, funny or even relevent to say; she's had her 15 minutes of almost fame and won't be on ANYONE'S list.

7. My wife almost married a gay man
...he came out three months before the wedding. At least he was decent enough to pay for the bridesmaids dresses.

Even stranger, the guy she dated immediately after him (and right before me) came out shortly after he dumped her.

If I were a homophobe, I might start to worry, because there's definately a pattern going on.

But on the bright side: if she turns me, she does get the toaster oven. :P

18. I'm sure she's heard. He used to get out quite a bit but that kinda stuff
doesn't seem to bother a lot of wealthy people. Maybe she just wants friendship/ armcandy.
I worked with a famous designer who was on her second marraige to a gay man. Hey she loved the first one, he gave her a title as well as two kids! The second one is filthy frigging rich beyond belief. So I am sure she loves him, too! The hilarious thing was that she hired a designer- again totally in the closet and angling to marry someone with a title-- who looks exactly like her first husband. So, I have no doubt she loved him. It just ain't about sex with some people. It's a merger, a partnership between good looking and powerful people.

I wonder how they could do the bedroom thing. That is what opened his eyes. He was engaged and began to think about sex and his life and what made him happy. Thank God he saw the light.

28. it when their parents pressure them to get married and have kids....
i have seen a lot of this. because not a lot of women want to just give a baby up to a gay man., even with a big payback like michael jackson's "wife".
i've been asked myself andd so have a few friends, trust me....
the pressure from parents is insane, more than society at large.
So they men always pick really virginal, sheltered young women, becasue they don't know from normal average hetero guys anyway... it's all new to them. And it's like a preteen thing, the innocent girls like the guys that aren't just trying to fuck them.
Seen it a thousand times in NYC,
Hell people around here marry people for their apartments all the time!

30. So much for the protection of marriage as an intitution of
stability and morality.

I think that is how we should get them back. All of the gay men and lesbians should marry impressionable rethuglicans for their health insurance, inheritance, and luxury apartments.

What a fucking bigotted moran.
I had a friend (gay) whose parents were fundies an he was deeply closeted and we sat around talking about it... he actually told an atheist friend that he felt christians would make better parents than any atheist. ouch. this is a guy who would blow a married guy in the men's locker room, but never actually date anyone lest his parents 1000 miles away found out. and he was happy to say who could make a happy family.
Aaaaggggghhh.

33. This is the first I've heard of it.
Of course, all that does is tell you how much interest I have in Star Jones (virtually none).

Her wedding was a little over the top in its self-centeredness, but it was her wedding to do with as she saw fit. If she and Al are okily-dokily with his orientation/past/whatever, then it's no skin off my nose.

35. She told Gillian Anderson she DID NOT WANT TO MARRY A GAY MAN
When Gillian Anderson was on their show somehow the topic of marrying a gay man came up.

Star said she did NOT want to do that.

Gillian, in her Buddhist way, offered that if it happened that might be Star's karma - that there might be lessons in that for her.

Star Jones insisted that was not her karma and never would be.
