Red Haired Cats (Do they pick fights)
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 09:15 AM by corarose
My Red Tabby Persian picks fights with the other cats. He is a small guy that didn't grow very big and everyone thinks that he is 6 months old because of his size.

Little Al picks fights with our large Main Coon White Cat that was a stray and knows how to beat the little guy up.

After he runs after our large white cat he screams at him in his little kitty voice and he slaps the other cats in the head and they he runs into his cat carrier and closses the door with his little hand. It's funny to watch.

What's the deal with Red Haired Cats. Are they high tempered or is that one of the characteristics of a red haired cat.

My Red Tabby Peke Faced Persian wasn't as mean as this one is but Garfield was a huge cat. Could it have someone to do with little mans syndrome?

1. Dunno about Red.. but the Orange ones do !
And they are LOUD too...

My youngest is an Orange beauty... but he is also the largest (17 pounds). The elder cat has unreal Kung-Fu.. but the youngest still takes pot shots whenever he can. He definitely is an instigator... unfortunately, despite his girth, the weight advantage, and those massive paws, he still ends up with the most wounds... the Elder is a featherweight, but has claws like talons and a quickness that cant be beat.

4. I have auburn hair myself
I couldn't stay gone for long and Thanks for welcoming back.

This little guy jumps up in the air and over the heads of both cats and he brings his hand down and slaps the other cat right in the head.
He doesn't pick at Ramona aka Sammy much because she is sick but he beats our large white cat Valentino up all of the time.
When I moved in with my Sister for a while they made us declawed our cats and if this guy still had his claws he would tear Valentino apart.

He also gets under the covers and sleeps by my legs and when the other cat comes up to the aero bed he peeps out and starts beating him up again.

5. Orange Cats Are Kind Of Funny
Sweet and gentle to a fault---unless you cross over that "invisible" line they've drawn in the litter box. After that, anything goes.

I'm glad they are able to forgive quickly though.

6. Orange tabbies have an attitude problem
Makes me think Garfield has more truth than fiction.

My little Ricky is constantly pouncing on my other cats, lying in wait for them and then attacking, and just generally a little twit. He loves picking on my older girl Ryno but Lucy, my little girl, let's him have it. She in fact has him terrified -- he's earned it.

Here is a photo of the little guy. He really is adorable!

7. Had an orange
that, as a kitten used to attack anything that moved, but he grew up to be a real sweetie. He liked nothing better than a nap on my son's chest with his face close to son's face.

Now, a black cat I had was a holy terror. She'd attack anything, even us, until she got so old she couldn't. Very temperamental.

8. He is so cute!
I am partial to red or orange cats.

My first cat "Mama Cat" was a black and white tuxedo cat from the streets. Mama was Ramona's mom and he dad was my Red Tabby Peke faced Persian that died 2 years back.

I was on a drunken stupor which I don't drink but that day I had a glass of wine and I went out and bought Mama Cat a friend and I looked in the paper and low and behold someone was selling a baby Red Tabby Persian. Damn I loved Garfield so much that part of me died when he died 2 years ago. Mama died in my lap and the other part of me died along with her. She dropped her little head down on my shoulder and died it was heartbreaking.

Ramona looks kinda like Catwomans cat's except she is almost all white with a black, orange and white face. Ramona has that Red Haired personality in her.

10. OMG! Your little Ricky looks exactly like my little Pip.
It's uncanny - even the white in the front of the face.

9. I have a small 8-lb male ginger cat (orange) and yes, he is feisty!
My other cat is a male tabby and weighs about 20 lbs and is so mellow. Who picks the fights? You guessed it - my ginger cat! It's hilarious to see this little 8-lb cat instigate a fight w/ my big tabby. He jumps on the tabby's back and all hell breaks loose.

This is an interesting post; I never thought about it.

11. Our cats could be brothers
This cat jumps on top of the very LARGE Cat and attacks him.
The white cat is so large that his tail comes up to my waist and I am 5'4".
People have asked me where the hell did you get that large cat and is he a mutant.
The little guy is the size of a peanut compared to the large guy and he beats him up.
My Dad use to think that Valentino was beating up Little Al but we started watching them and it's visa versa. Little Al picks fights and they he runs and gets in his cat carrier and shuts the door and if the is near me he will sit in my lap or crawl up on my computer after he has hit the other cat in the head of kicked him.

He runs from him after he hits him so Little Al is a chicken.

12. My orange tabby was named Lucifer
He died last year at age 17. He was the sweetest cat to me and the family, really loved my father and slept with him during his long bout with cancer. Well Luci was named before I knew he was a male, got him as a little bitty thing. He was an "alpha male" cat though. He always had to be top male cat in the area, and kept the other cats in line.

I think some cats are alpha and some cats are beta. Unfortunately when you have two alphas like I have now, you have a lot of

rawwwwwwouu! spishhhhhhhist! RAWahowwww! spishhhhist!

but you get used to it.
