Lemony Snicket rules! And he's on our side! |
|
I'm reading his newest, "The Slippery Slope." (I'm not done yet -- I had the attention span of a gnat last night -- so no spoilers.) Keep in mind this is technically a children's series.
Sunny, the baby, often makes baby talk -- it makes sense to her and her siblings, but must be translated for the rest of us. Occasionally, though, the baby talk is actually a good allusion -- she called a villian who looked neither like a man nor a woman "Orlando" in one of the early books.
On p. 107, I saw a subtle sign that he was in our camp! Sunny called the evil Count Olaf "Busheney!" And then the narrator went on to define that as "an evil man who has no concern whatsoever for the lives of other people" (or something like that).
Very cool.

1. If you want a real "Lemony" treat, try the audio version of |
|
"A Series of Unfortunate Events."
Read with relish by . . . Dr. Frank N. Furter, Tim Curry.
Perfect casting!

4. "Lemony Snicket" is Daniel Handler's psuedonym |
|
He's an American novelist. His writing style is kind of unplaceable, though.
