7. I didn't get it.

Tim Russert was a political activist against the Vietnam War. One might assume he was a leftie. But he sold out for the big bucks, fame and glory.

I would hope that this (mythical) young woman, would be more principled than that.

I remember the anti-war activists, at times it seemed that the main thing they were most opposed to was, other people grabbing the bullhorn.

8. Dean's Appearance on MTP

When he appeared on Meet the Press, Dean didn't know how many troops are in Iraq. In the cartoon, Dean supporters don't know the date of the primary. Gotcha!

The similarity is the absence of knowledge of a specific fact. If you'd forgotten that, you didn't get the joke.

He didn't initially state the specific total in the armed services (which no one could do anyway)...but he gave as good an estimate as anybody could.
