Can raw unpeeled carrots kill you? |
|
No, I am not making fun of the poor girl having a bad shroom trip, I am serious. I have a half bag of them in the fridge and had one as a snack. I didn't feel like peeling it so I just rinsed it off. I know that they always say that you are suppose to peel them, but will any harm come to me. I am starting to get paranoid and seem to be geting thicker mucous in my throat. Will I be alright? Why am I laughing at myself?

unpeeled carrots = extra fiber. Rabbits don't peel their carrots, so you shouldn't have any problems.

actually you shouldnt peal any root vegetable (carrots, yams, potatoes) or other fruit-veggies (tomatoes, cucumbers, etc) as all the vitamins and fibre are found in the skins.
just make sure they are washed and you should be fine.

4. Only if you stab yourself in the eye with it. |
|
The only thing on the outside is maybe the chemicals (you prolly got off by washing) and sometimes there is wax on the outside.

6. I eat raw unpeeled carrots every day |
|
They're a great snack. They're delicious and they keep me away from cookies.
And funny enough, I say the same thing when my wife tells me the skin is dangerous: "rabbits eat them"
I figure the skin has the good minerals. Like a potato.
If your throat is closing, it's because you're panicked. Relax. Drink a glass of water. Take a walk outside and look at the sky.

Hundreds of them dripping with pesticides, cow pies and chicken droppings, maybe, but not just one in the fridge.
I know plenty of people who eat raw, unpeeled carrots with no ill effects, including some farmers. Like potatos, the skin might have slight amounts of alkaloids that could cause problems, but you'd need to eat a lot of them.
I don't eat them simply because I don't like raw carrots that much.

8. The point of washing them is to make them taste better. |
|
Unless they have chunks of raw fecal matter or something else nasty on them, eat away.

I am drinking water, deep breathing, and feeling better now that I know that I haven't poisoned myself. I think that I do need more fiber in my diet so maybe I will eat them this way regularly.

|
might you cause harm or injury....
Peeling is optional on carrots. Lemme guess, you didn't spend time on Aunt Jo's farm, did ya?

19. Well.. If it's really crisp & pointy, and you stuck it in your eye, maybe |
|
Seriously.. If you wash it, you should be fine...
I used to tell my boys that all the vitamins were on the skin of fruits..(Too lazy to peel it ).. One day, my oldest looked at the apple and saw all the little flecks on the skin, and said .."Wow , you're right, I see them"..
