NFL Countdown addresses Rush's comments |
|
Berman said he was angry and said he was kicking himself all week for not catching the comments.
Jackson said he wasnt "hurt by his comments." Jackson sounds angry and he also said Limbaugh has brung in to talk football and he broke that trust. He also said he was focusing on the football content and didn't catch the part of the racist comment, but regrets that he didn't, not for his sake but for Donovan's sake. He made a long statement and I can't post the entire statement.

He had nothing to do with his hiring and said that what he said last Sunday was no different then the stuff he says everyday on his radio show.(paraphrasing)

3. Sounded like Jakson never wanted Limbaugh on the program |
|
I thought his comments were very pointed - Limbaugh was brought in to talk football only and "broke that trust" re: the McNabb comments. It was obvious as to how upset Jackson was - I would venture to say that if he had Limbaugh in a room to himself it would not be a pretty sight.
I was pleased to see that Jackson did not hold back in his comments, and it should be obvious to all how racist those comments were. Sadly, there are 20 million morons who will never understand. Sadder still is that the owner of said comments will not, either.

5. Tom was near tears and quite eloquent |
|
in his "mea culpa", but I was not impressed with Steve Young's or Michael Irvin's response. Seemed to me that they were trying to re-ingratiate themselves with the old boy network. Berman seemed sincere, and genuinely blindsided by Rush's attack. Guys like Limbaugh are so ingrained in their prejudice that they are unable to see that the hate and bile they spew is harmful. To this day, he maintains that his comments were not racially motivated. The vilest of bigots is the one who is not even aware that he is bigoted.

7. I don't watch NFL Countdown |
|
But I am glad to hear that they have addressed this matter headon and got rid of the Pigman.
I hate to admit this, but I almost wanted Limpballs to hang around a couple of weeks and have a Ray Lewis or Warren Sapp confront him on what he said. That would have been TV worth watching.

8. Sorry Chris: you should have known what Rush would do and have |
|
nipped this in the bud at his first utterance. The fault lies with all those at ESPN who had any part in bringing someone of Rush's ilk/cloth in and all those at ESPN who did not vigorously and publicly denounce this proposed social experiment from the git-go.
