LSD is much inorganic, while the mushrooms are natural, but still toxic. It's always been my impression that mushrooms are less harsh, though I could be wrong from a physiological perspective.

BTW, I do respect your authoritayh, since I've never tried heroin. Always had a huge fear of needles, so it wasn't even an option for me back in the days when I might have actually considered it. Same with cocaine, I hate anything nasal like sprays or drops, and certainly not powder! I would only try things that could be smoked, eaten or drunk.

Acid has no permanent side-effects, kills no brain cells, and is the least addictive drug in the poll.

Ecstacy does all of those things, plus runs a significant risk of overdose. Chemically, X is in essence a super-powerful version of crystal meth.

It's a seratonin booster and in it's pure form is not that dangerous. The problem results in what the dealers cut it with to make more money. That's why all those X booths started appearing at raves to test whether your X actually had any mdma in it or not.

BTW, did you know that on of the MDMA studies that is most cited is now discredited because the researchers found that they were actually giving the mice crystal meth instead of MDMA? I'm not a big fan of X (I rarely do any drugs anymore) but I despise the misinformation of the War on Drugs. I always try to remember that any study that is reported on rarely means what the media says it does. They simplify and distort the findings to fit the story and care little for the actual science.

MDMA (ecstasy) is made in almost the same fashion. In fact, the actual creation of the ecstacy is just about two steps in the process beyond creating meth, where the "precursor" (methyl-amine?) for MDMA is synthesized with methamphetamine.

Meth (essentially a synthetic cocaine) is also a pretty powerful serotonin "booster." To prove my point, try this experiment: one weekend take a tab of ecsatsy; the next weekend take a large amount of meth (7 grams, or a quarter-ounce for the metrically impaired). The meth has to be taken all at once, so either intraveinously or swallowed. You will notice a remarkable coincidince.

You're right about the rave-booths, btw, but for the wrong reasons. Dealers, in my rather extensive experience, rarely "cut" their product, except with things that have no effect at all, i.e. talcum powder. What they do is sell something else entirely different, such as meth or heroin, and []i]call it ecstasy.

NTOE ON THE ABOVE EXPERIMENT: You're better off just not trying it all, now that I think about it.

If it's hardest drug, I'd have to say Percoset or Demerol after childbirth and when I had my wisdom teeth removed. I've smoked weed many times and did mushrooms once years and years ago, but never did I want to hit anything harder. I think alcohol is a lot harder than marijauna also and I've had that too.

These aren't my definitions, they were working definitions that developed in the late 1950s. The term "Hard Drugs" was then plucked for use in the War On (Some) Drugs.

(Caveat: This is based on memory, but I'm pretty sure it's all correct, or at least quite close. If you need actual, real, scientifically-accurate information, you should consult the current literature and/or public health scientists.)

Hard drugs: Addictive
In order of "hardness": nicotine, ethyl alcohol, barbiturates, opiates/opioids, cocaine, amphetamine(s), cathinone derivatives (Qat, etc.), benzodiazepines e.g. Xanax, dissociative anesthetics (ketamine etc.) NOTE this loose ranking is idealized and not subject to factors involved in the illicit drug trade.

Soft Drugs: Non-Addictive
LSD and other lysergates, marijuana, psilocybin and other tryptamine derivatives, mescaline and other substituted phenalkylamines (includes MDMA or "Ecstasy"), Ayahuasca (beta-carbolines), salvinorin and similar phytoalcohols.

Non-Addictive but Dangerous
Inhalation drugs: toluene, xylene (both in "airplane glue"), aerosolized paint, electronic-dusting spray (toxic anesthetic freon derivatives)

IMPORTANT NOTE!
There is no such thing as a "safe" intoxicant!

AFAIK, the most addictive drugs are sedative-hypnotics, such as methaqualone (qualudes), with tranquilizers and barbiturates second and third.

I find it interesting that, according to medical records made public, the whole time the Reagans were in the White House Nancy was prescribed (and presumably consumming) one sedative-hypnotic and one tranquilizer at all times. The whole time she was telling the country to "just say no" she was stoned out of her mind on the most addictive drugs available!:crazy:
