yep. all my music listings fall into that category.
I think if I paid attention to about 100 of these threads, and my replies to them over the course of about 8-10 months, I could probably get a better gauge of what really is my favorite.
I know Joni, Jeff Beck, and Pretenders pretty much always get in there somewhere, if possible. Most everything else is subject to change. Gee - they all have at least 20 years worth of history, and continue to release music; that probably is a factor, ya think?

28. They're climbing "my" charts |
|
I've been aware of them since the early 70s; but didn't start really listening to them until a couple years ago. Clearly should have been grouped with my secondary 'long career base groups post, but because they're kind of "new" to me, they're not quite as deeply embedded in my brain.
I kinda vampired away from anything that sounded remotely like it might have been exposed to disco in the mid-70s, and ToP got caught in the fallout.

KMFDM stands for Keine Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid, which is a badly constructed German sentence which can be loosely translated to "No Pity for the Majority".

Hmmm.
The Beatles (but of course....I include Wings as a subset) The Beach Boys Creedence
Huh. I don't really get excited about too many bands, I guess, at least not as much as solo performers. Most of the rest I can think of I liked mainly for one or two songs. And then there's the most excellent Village People....
Oh...wait a minute....here are some more:
Three Dog Night Little River Band The Eagles Spinal Tap!!!!!!!!!!
And the rest is stuff like Fleetwood Mac, Cheap Trick, The Moody Blues, U2, Cold Chisel, The Temptations, The Drifters, Cream, The Doors, The Band, Hot Chocolate, Bee Gees, Abba (hey, I was a kid in the '70s), etc, and I can't pick and choose among 'em.

It was difficult for me to leave off EC (I even had a dog that I named Declan), but I guess I see him as a solo artist for the most part. Imperial Bedroom is the pinnacle of songwriting.
And though I was once a huge Utopia fan, I guess that some of their later work soured me a bit. Not that they still weren't better than 99% of the bands, at the time.

Wow, with the amazing Tim Buckley.
Spawner of the amazingly gifted, and tragically drowned Jeff Buckley.

My tenth group could be The Jayhawks or The Beach Boys or The Stones or Pearl Jam or Abba or Blondie or The Police or Stone Temple Pilots, or more - but I was in the mood for The Moody Blues right now. :)

ABBA, Blondie, The Police, or STP for sure! I like MB's a lot too though I wouldn't pick them as a favorite. I've seen them live many times. They are great outside with a full orchestra.
:hi: Matt!

59. You can tell my age by looking at this list |

Yes, I am a child of the 80s. :-) In no particular order-
U2 Til Tuesday The Cure REM The Smiths Violent Femmes Depeche Mode Ramones The Clash Coldplay
Saw Marley and The Wailers mentioned, but I think of them more as a backup band- same as Buffet and the Coral Reefers, IMO. It was really Marley's show.
Glad to see Gin Blossoms and Toad mentioned too. They weren't around nearly long enough. :-(
