1. Another History Channel |
|
Usually have better stuff than this.
It does seem like they have theme days, ala History Channel.
Not a bad channel, but I'm far from impressed with this lineup.

2. That's been their schedule since the channel's inception |
|
The previous incarnation, Discovery Civilization, had its shortcomings as well, but was generally a good outlet, more or less what the History Channel should be rather than the Hitler/guns channel that the latter is 90% of the time. Since the NYT added its name, it might as well be the PNAC/Neocon channel.

6. The original title for "The History Channel" |
|
Was "The World War Two Channel." Seriously. A&E was trying to capitalize on the popularity of its WWII shows.

3. Discovery and History Channels = Profit-driven pseudohistory |
|
I use discovery and history channel shows to teach my students to think critically.
Most of the shows are sensationalized history tailored to the political and social conditions of present times. I show a Discovery show, and then I read an article from the Lancet or JAMA or peer-reviewed history periodicals, and then let my students point out Discovery's mistakes and sensationalism.
By the way, I have VERY SMART kids! There is hope, DUers!

I don't watch that whistle ass propaganda channel. I'm still seething that they took away Discovery Civilization for this horseshit. I miss all the Egypt shows. :(

10. History Channel International |
