My dog is rooting/nesting on every piece of furniture in the house |
|
He just pushed a whole stack of sorted laundry off my sofa onto the floor. Now he is rooting around on his own couch- I don't know why.
Yes, I let him on all the furniture. He is 12 and a half, starting to act like an old dog, and I find it hard to say no to him. He is heartbroken if I discipline him and he just doesn't seem to understand that get off the couch doesn't mean "I don't love you any more"!

treatable. Check the internet.(Canine Alzheimers/senility.) or your vet. In any case, if it persists, follow up with your vet.
PS I have always let all my dogs and cats on the furniture.

5. Well, old dogs can learn new tricks, so they say. |
|
And kindly reinforcing what you want him to do works better than punishing him for misadventures. He is old, but he could live for quite a while longer, and learning new things is good for him. I know it's hard. We had to put our big old guy to sleep a couple of years ago. Good luck.
Big  for the dog. And one for you.

a true classic in advertising. the best part was when the dog howled "I can't read!" (I own an advertising agency, so I really appreciate it when ads are done right.)
I still drive my poor wife nuts by sniffing and barking "bacon bacon bacon" every time she cooks the stuff.

Used to hide hamburger bits in the couch and save them for later. Which caused her to root around in the oddest places.
