Why do post get "locked"? |
|
...What are the guidelines here for happy posting! What are the reasons a post would get locked or removed? What gets a DU membership revoked? Why are there such restrictions at a place like DU?

2. flamefests and sex threads, mostly. |
|
you can get banned for causing the above one too many times, or for being exceptionally awful to people.
DU is a nice place to hang, and the mods keep it that way. Read a bit on the ATA page and you'll catch on to the vibe here. It's great! One of the best boards I have ever visited...

15. Well, when you signed on to DU you agreed to abide by the |
|
rules. You may want to read those before spring.

9. You should post this in ATA... |
|
...not the Lounge, if you're sincerely looking for answers to those "questions."

19. The answer you seek ... |
|
... is in the Book of Revelations.
The mountain of Wormwood that poisons the seas and kills one-third of all the people? That was last election season.
Imagine yourself as an Admin or a Moderator, having to deal with 50 simultaneous flame wars while right-wing bloggers are looking for "evidence" of Libbrul evil. It's like taking 50 hyperactive incontinent dogs with rabies out for a walk, and you only have 49 leashes.
DU is a big, cumbersome labor of love. All they ask for is a litle domestic tranquility. It's not too onerous a weight for most of us users.

...but I was being sarcastic with the OP's "questions" in that post, not asking one myself.
