1. Fender Tele
It's a no brainer for me. I have some Epiphones, but I like my Tele. I like Strats, but I hate where they have the volume control.

2. You want to compare a Deluxe Strat to a lowly SG copy?
Why not compare an Epiphone Les Paul Standard to a Fender Standard Strat? That's a fair comparison. I own both. The Epiphone wins that one hands down. In their price range, Epi's can't be beat.

The Mexican Strats are OK too, they just don't have the killer tone the Les Paul can get. Put an upgraded set of PUPs on the Epi Les Paul and it'll sound as good as a top of the line Gibson.

I've never had one in my hands so I can't compare them.

19. I really like both
The Squier's an ok guitar. I'm just beginning, and I don't plan on getting a new guitar until after a year or so.

11. I disqualify myself.
I've got a Tele and an Epi '62 SG reissue. I love them both, for different reasons.

24. Is that the 50s Tele?
I have one of those, and it has the best neck of any Fender ever. It was the sole reason I stopped hating on Fender guitars.

Can't say the same for the "vintage" tuners unfortunately.

18. I have played guitar for years, but I must admit
that I still buy guitars based almost entirely on appearance. I really couldn't care less about tone; I can get the tone I want from pretty much any guitar with just a bit of tweaking.

22. I love Fenders...............
Edited on Tue Mar-01-05 05:16 PM by CrownPrinceBandar
I play a Fender (89 American Standard Strat). That said, I think Fender charges way too much for its non-custom guitars. A off-the-rack Strat is the best $500 guitar that you'll pay $800-900 for.

The guitar of my dreams is a Hamer t-51 Tele copy. A buddy of mine has one, and the neck is unbelievably sweet! The radius is perfect for my hand size and the action is butter.
