it is about 5 years old or somewhat older and with all the programs I feel are important to me it is just not bearable anymore. It takes forever to upload a page. Still have Windows 98 installed. Anything newer and the PC crashes

2. Try couple of things first... |
|
Defrag your hard disk and remove all the spyware. It might help.

but I am so fed up with this comp right now, I want a new one. A friend of mine already once did reinstall everything new because it crashed. And every time I want to get online I have to restart my PC because at the first time the connection doesn't come up.

10. There are a couple of programs I reccomend.... |
|
One is called Ad-Aware and the other is Spybot. Regradless of what your decision make sure that you have spyware removal software on your computer. Update the software on a regular basis and run it on a regular basis....
You can get them here:

In case you don't know what spyware is, they are little programs that get installed in your computer when you surf the web. These programs send information back to advertisers so they can target their advertising to your particular habits. Obvious downsides are slowing of your computer and someone watching your habits....
On Edit: The girlie sites are notorious for these programs. So when you run it, you will know if your hand has been in the cookie jar...

7. If you're running Win98 it's time to upgrade |
|
Seriously, computers are cheap and all the OS's out there now (XP, Mac) are a significant improvement over Win98.

13. Hope you get a good deal |
|
Wish I had some cash. I'm itching to upgrade to the Mac mini. My Win2k box is beginning to annoy me. I will just have to put up with it for a wee bit longer though.

16. I didn't exactly ordered the cheapest one |
|
but to a price I am content with. I ordered it at the company, where my company is buying its computers also. So I know what I can expect. Plus they install everything I need. So I don't have to worry about that and won't get screaming fits if something ain't doing what I want it to do

Five years is really OLD for a computer with technology the way it is these days. It is time to treat yourself to a new one.

I recently got a new PC just a few months ago and my old PC is also five years old. It makes all the difference in the world, especially when I want to play movie files. And I've been going berserk with the DVD drive that came with my new computer.
If your computer is five years old and you can afford a new computer, absolutely go for it.
