Small earthquake strikes along Quebec border with the United States

MONTREAL (AP) _ An earthquake measuring 3.5 magnitude struck along Quebec's border with the United States Wednesday evening.

The epicenter was about five kilometers southwest of Huntingdon, Quebec. The tremors were felt as far away as Montreal.

The earthquake wasn't strong enough to cause damage, said Cathy Woodgold of Natural Resources Canada.

"We wouldn't expect any damage from an earthquake of this size," she said.

The earthquake took place in the western Quebec seismic zone, an active area for quakes, she said.
