Do you think it's necessary for an athletic coach to be in shape? |
|
I don't mean rock hard abs and able to do 500 push ups, etc. I just mean in halfway decent shape.
Let's say we're talking about a high school or college level coach for a major sport (basketball, soccer, football, etc.).
What do you think? In order to do their job do they need to be in halfway decent shape? Or just for perception/respect purposes?

1. Nope - the kicking coach for Miami Dolphins is parapalegic |
|
confined to a wheelchair, can only move his head and one arm. But he knows more than anyone about kicking a football, and how to describe it to kickers.

3. I had a gym teacher once that looked like the Penguin from Batman |
|
Not as charming as Burgess Meredith, though. Just extremely paunchy. We theorized he was carrying a beach ball under his shirt.
The kicker was that below the waste he was thin. He used to wear Bike shorts. :scared:

4. I think they need to have good aerobic and muscular fitness. |
|
They can be pretty chubby and still have that though. So you couldn't really tell by looking at them.
But yes, I think they should be in shape.
