Lift your glass to Scotty my 13 yr. old cat....got his ashes back today... |
|
Old Poo Bear finally came home after two weeks at the "Pet Heaven" crematorium in Miami. They were going to scatter him along with the other pets in their "pet cemetery" in Miami, but my husband said, "Nothing doing. Scott was a Keys cat and we will bring him back to the Keys." We will have a wake in a couple of weeks and have told our friends to practice up on singing the "Meow Meow Meow song" and perhaps something from "Cats". Although he loved his smoochies treats, I think I will serve his second favorite, roasted turkey. I know, a bit weird, but he was a good pal and we want to give him a good send-off.

Sorry for delay - decided to feed fish on way to kitchen.
In his honor, I drink Martini.
You do him great honor by serving his favorite dish! What a great way to send off a beloved pet to pet heaven. Condolences on your loss, and blessings to you on your celebration of his life! A precious gift his life was, indeed, that it affected you so. How wonderful!!

One of our favorite memories is of the day we decided to get another cat so that Scott would have a companion. Coco was a little kitten and Scott was a big tomcat, but Coco insisted on suckling on Scott, having been taken from her mother a bit early. At first Scott was befuddled, but soon, without prompting, he laid on the floor and let her have at his belly (sans tit). We all had a huge laugh at that sight!

2. Sounds like a nice plan. When our Boomer died, I got permission |
|
to bury him under a big flowering tree on a creek bank in a wildlife viewing area. It helped a lot.
The point being, it isn't "weird" - at least as far as I'm concerned :)

sounds to me like your cat had a helluva great time with your family. May all your memories be happy ones, and may he come back to you in his next life. O8)

after I had to have my beloved kitty L.B. put to sleep - he was almost 14. That grief is the price of love, I suppose. Scotty was as lucky to have you as you were to have him. :)

16. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I have 3 cats myself. |

Just remember the words of Kahil Gibran who wrote:
When you are sorrowful, look again in Your heart, and you shall see that in truth You are weeping for that which has been your delight.
To Scotty - :toast:

I lost my 19-year-old big black kitty right after Thanksgiving. His name was Boo Boo. I got his mother as a birthday gift when I turned 18. He was born a year later. Had both of them for ages. Sadly, Sasha (yeah, it's a boy's name, but I named her when I was 18) was killed by dogs 5 years ago. She was 15 at the time, but so healthy and full of life. I moved to Oregon from Texas last summer and felt Boo couldn't make the trip. He lived out his last months at my dad's place near Marble Falls, lying about in the sunshine and getting the royal treatment. He was healthy to the end, but right after Thanksgiving he went downhill over a couple of days and I knew he was ready to move on. One day, he lay down in the sunshine and went into a coma. He never woke up. He's out at my dad's, where he can smell the breeze off the lake and watch the birds in the trees.
Here's to our boys.
Peace,
RV
Edited, because I can't spell when I'm crying! Damn!
