Was any GOOD pop music written by people with a wealthy background? |
|
Any one?
I can't really think of any music written by rich kids that is really just like "oomph"

She's a classic. Didn't I hear somewhere that Jimmy Buffet was born into money? I'm not a parrot head, so I could be totally wrong. In any case, I still like "Margaritaville"

So I don't know if she counts... "Say my name" and "Pay My Bills" isn't exactly deep or anything...

7. I like Bluebear's nominee -- Carly Simon. |
|
Her BOYS IN THE TREES album just blows me away.
I think James Taylor's parents were fairly wealthy & his compositions are in it for the long haul, too.

First, we're going to watch LENNY with Dustin Hoffman.
It's going to be an east coast, blue state kind of evening.

10. Depends upon the definition of pop, I would guess |
|
Cole Porter wrote what was, for his day, pop music. He had money, too, and married it, as well--though he didn't let marriage get in the way of his lifestyle.

Some people like Meat Loaf, some people don't, but I've heard that he came from an affluent family.

but I'm sure other people would disagree with my contention that they're GOOD pop music.
Also, I'm sure there are quite a few indie rock/pop artists who come from money. Will Oldham of Palace would not be a bad bet.

by the time he was growing up, his older brothers had hit it big (BeeGees). He wrote some pretty popular pop music. I understand the question by HeyHey was 'GOOD' pop music, but hey...
