Pets
I need some tips. I have an 8 year old rabbit that has never been around other animals. Now have a 6 month old Yorkie as well. Anyone out there with tips on how to have them co-exist? I know they can never be left unsupervised. But I'd like to be able to have them around each other with supervision.

1. Place the Rabbit on the floor in a cage.

When watching TV cuddle with both of them on the sofa. Cogi's are go to ground dog's and hunt rabbit's out of instinct and breeding but that can be broken.

3. The rabbit is too old. I wouldn't give the poor thing a heart attack by
putting him with the puppy... his little heart won't take it.

I mean 8 years is ANCIENT for a rabbit.... so be very gentle.

4. Maintain separate yet an equal household....
Puppies and dogs are rather klutzy (though probably well meaning at most times) and a bunny can get hurt and scared easily.

8 years old is old for a bun. :) Have the puppy play and frolic, but probably not around the bun. You can give them each the love and attention they deserve, though probably not at the same time. :)

best of luck.

Thanks for responding. I do appreciate the input. You're right about the rabbit's age. Many people look at me in disbelief when I tell them how old he is. And he's pretty healthy. Hope to have him around for a while yet.
