Poll question: Let's DU the Beatles |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 05:01 PM by undisclosedlocation
35 years on from the ignominious breakup, what do DUers think of the Fab Four? (Edit: added question mark)

They're a great band, but they broke up 30 years ago, and the Beatles leg-humping needs to stop already?

5. Both two and four are true |
|
Even the greatest bands have a healthy amount of filler.

6. Well, Jack White is a higher ranking guitarist than George Harrison |
|
I'm just surprised Harrison is so close to JW. As far as drummers go, I think Meg and Ringo are about even. http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/5937559?rnd=1110339179220&has-player=true&version=6.0.6.3317 Jack White of the White Stripes 18 John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers 19 Richard Thompson 20 James Burton 21 George Harrison

8. I'm surprised about #2, Dwayne Allman? |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 10:12 PM by hickman1937
I do not disagree at all, but he's been gone so long, I'm surprised that he not only was in the poll, but was #2. People have better memories than I thought.

This is the definitive guitarist ranking, and, although Dwayne was a redneck, he was among the best. I just hope Jack doesn't have to die to break the top ten.

10. I think they are overrated. |
|
Good, but still overrated.
Oasis is underrated by the establishment rock press, but not in album sales, which for (What's The Story) Morning Glory exceed those of any Beatles album.

12. I Went With Among The Best, But. . . |
|
. . .i think they were the most important and influential band ever. Because every band on my list that were as good as, or maybe better than the Beatles, had the advantage of treading the trail blazed by them.
And, i always wondered what the Beatles could have done with the tech of the 80's, 90's and now. I kind of think this discussion would be moot if they could have made albums with the quality and sound pallette available to the rest of us by the mid 80's. The Professor

If Paul McCartney had lived, The Beatles would still own the Song Charts! This William Campbell fellow couldn't write songs worth a damn, and it eventually came to be too much for Lennon to bear, hence the "I want a divorce" mentality.
